Barracks Influence on Training

Post by Anthropoid »

The manual says something about each level of Barracks raising a units experience 0.1 every four turns. Does this apply if the unit is in the province or only if it is garrisoned in the city? I'd assume this is cumulative with effects from being in a container and with a General?

I don't think there is anything as unit experience in this game...

You have an experience pool as a country.  When you have enough you can ''buy'' country upgrade or individual upgrades to your units...

Cowardly, Green, Regular, Seasoned, Veteran . . . if they don't call it experienced whatever that is. "Morale?"

The every-four-turns bit refers to producing Experience Points (which are used for purchasing special abilities and upgrades; see manual p. 51), not improving units' quality.

The barracks serve three purposes ... the one listed above providing exp. points every four turns that can be used to buy national upgrades or for individual unit upgrades.  Also the barracks does raise the morale .1 of a newly created unit in that province which is what you referenced from the manual.  And lastly they allow certain types of units to be built in that province.

7.2.3 Barracks
Barracks provide military benefits.
Troop Morale Increase – Barracks increase Morale of units created in the province. Each level of Barracks increases the morale of troop units created there by .1.

This is why I usually only build my inf units at the best barracks so they have the highest morale.

Experience Points and Upgrades – Barracks produce Experience (Points), which permit the purchase of Upgrades and Special Abilities. Experience (Points) are earned every quarter, each province contributing 10% of the square of the Barracks level.

Don't confuse Upgrades with Special Abilities... Upgrades are applied to the entire nation... special abilities only apply to an individual unit and you can only have certain ones based on the units morale. Which is why its important to build units with the highest morale possible.

Advanced Unit Production – Barracks are also a pre-requisite to building certain types of units
