Use of Maps....
for scenarios is fine by me....throw a little line about me in the scenario "credits" for my vanity and that's enough for me.

The Stone Wall....
feel free to edit it out of the road. I placed a wall across the river in the village to simulate the water-fall that most non-electric mills utilized to create torque. Any other wall was probably just a mis-hit with the mouse.
Drex...coastal North Africa will be next on the list.

You're Welcome....
I've enjoyed sharing the maps....it's good to see them get downloaded and know that they are being used and appreciated. I just consider it my contribution to this fine game and forum.
Drex...North Africa is still on the board, just taking longer than expected.
I'm somewhat picky about how they look and work and the desert tiles are not as forgiving as the other terrains...so it's probably one of the biggest mapping challenges I have taken on. (believe it or not!) But I will keep at it and get you a quality desert map as soon as I can.
Ok, back to the grind stone....any other requests out there???

Coastal North Africa...
Designed with the coastal area of Liyba in mind...there is a large coastal plain dominating the map, with a rough desert escarpment to the south.
Since this map is supposed to convey the brief "flowering" time in the desert there are two now dried up "wash-outs" that run to the sea...providing possible hiding places.
There is a small village on the costal road and then another fishing halmet on the coast itself. One road serves the entire area but there are also a few desert trails open for use.
I have a second. more open map in development...but vacation started today...and I will be leaving town in two days. So, this may be the last map for a week or so.
Hope you enjoy it.

Desert map
Very real Orzel. *I realize you've never been there but I was there as a kid ( my Dad was stationed at Wheelus AFB in Tripoli) from '56 to '59. the war was only 11 years or so old and there were still existing minefields, forts, wreakage, etc. Around Tripoli the area is actually green but elsewhere in cyrenaica the desert comes down to the ocean much as you show it. It's time for a desert battle. anyone interested?

Drex...
Cool story...that you actually got to see the real area where fighting actually took place. I'm jealous!
I (on the other hand
) had to read up from some of my books to try and get an idea of the lay of the land. Found a few pictures of the desert areas too that helped.
So, once more, glad I could make something that could be of service to my fellow SPWAW'ers. Enjoy.

Just a Reminder...
for those of you looking for another of my maps...try "the factory" thread by M4Jess in the "Opponents" sub-forum.
The map I created for his excellent Anzio scenario can be obtained as part of the zip files.
So, not only do you get to see a new map....you get one Hell of a battle to fight....which makes the map a mere bonus!
Drex, the next North Africa map will probably be posted later this evening...final touches are being applied.
After that, I will probably go to posting a new map every other week...or once a month. It all depends on how many requests I get for new material.

But.... But...But...
I am NOT ALLOWED too.
M4 Jess said so!
And he signed with something like this
And now you are tempting me...
You cruel man

Oppss...
Perhaps I should have added a clause that excluded the two Pbem players?!?!?
Do as Jess asks though...you'll see it soon enough.

Desert Airfield...
This one is not as dramatic as the coastal North Africa map...but it is a bit more of that "open, endless, desert" variety that most people envision when thinking of the desert. More suitable for those tank gunnery battles of lore.
To spruce things up I threw an airfield in the center of the map. Perhaps it can be the focal point of some battles....since a good air base was worth it's weight in gold in North Africa.
Right now I am in the middle of vying my map making skills for a top secret project (hopefully they will be acceptable)....so any new maps will be about a week away.
ps...Don't ask what it is though....I can't say.
