Difficulty Levels?

What is the difference between easy, historical, hard and very hard? Is it commitment levels or earlier reinforcements or better hit chances in combat or smarter ai etc...?

Hit chances in combat mainly. The impact of difficulty level is for instance very important in all air combats - your planes will drop like flies if you play a "very hard" game against AI :(

AFAIK, the AI is not smarter ...
