Supply hits
When attack port or AB via air or sea, is there a quantifier to the supply hits. Is it one for one or is there something else. For instance if I hit an AB and get a result of something like, "Service hits 20, AB supply hits 6, Runway hits 80", does that mean I destroyed 6 supply points? Same thing for port attacks. I see these on both BOMB missions for SCTF and airstrikes. Just wondering if anybody knows for sure what the numbers mean

supply hits destroy 1% of existing supply at the time of the hit.

So if the result says, "Airbase supply hits: 6", I destroyed 6% of the supply at the base. Wow, this can add up.

RE: Supply hits
not exactly, you destroy 1% supply at the time of the hit, so with each hit, 1% gets knocked off, so the next hit then takes 1% of the reduced supply level and so forth and so forth so its actually diminishing returns.

RE: Supply hits
Yeah, in my game Truk's been isolated for over a year now, and my heavy bombers have been getting 10 Port hits daily. The first few days that was fine, but by now I doubt if I'm blowing up much more than a few rolls of toilet paper.
RE: Supply hits
How much supply does it take to repair a single point of airbase/port damage? Runway damage? How much supply to repair a disabled lcu squad? Or is this more a function of support and HQ?

RE: Supply hits
It doesnt take supply to repair runways / ports / airbases directly. The engineer unit must be supplied however, I believe (I could be wrong on that but pretty sure Im not). As for "repairing" disrupted ground units, again as long as the unit has its normal supply it has a chance of repairing those squads. The supply at a base has nothing to do with it, its the supply actually IN the unit.

Note John, Port hits do not affect supply. Only Port or Airfield SUPPLY hits will affect supply.

RE: Supply hits
Also, you'll notice over time your supply hits will start to diminish and then stop all-together, even though you are using high XP units. In this case it may mean you have depleted the base's supply level to the point the units there are down to having to hurl their boots and foul language at invading troops.

RE: Supply hits
Well in that case my heavy bombers have already destroyed all the toilet paper at Truk, because yes, the "port supply" hits stopped long ago. I suppose they're down to using sand and palm fronds for those basic needs by now (mid '44); I wonder what would happen if I invaded Truk with an infantry division? I had bypassed Tarawa early on in my campaign and decided to invade this weekend, and the two units there didn't even inflict a single casualty to my amphibious assault.

That would definately put a dent in my will to fight. [:D]
On the other hand, the sand may be less abrasive than the cheaper brands of TP that is out there...[X(]

it doesn´t take any supply to repair damage, only building facilities (airfield, port, forts) uses supply.
RE: Supply hits
The Supply hit routine should be reworked.
Supply depots are usually hidden in reach of enemy air power, so they should be hard to hit unless strong recon flights figure out their position.
If they are located, only with the highest detection levels, it should be easier to hit the depots and the loss of supply/fuel should be far higher.
Adjustments/improvements of depots can be with fortification level.

RE: Supply hits
Odin: if you are talking about frontline supplies, you are right - they are hard to hit.
On the other hand:
Frontline supply stockpiles were only small proportion of supplies. Say there were 1-5 units of fire, 5 days food rations, 5 days fuel stocks. They were scattered - I thikn at regiments or artillery and tank battalions as smallest units.
Rear area supplies are what matters: number of warehouses in the port, hangars at airfields, ammodump at airfield containing hundreds of bombs, etc. They are easy to find and contains supplies for months at least. Easy to find, they are big and easy to hit. [:D]
