Air Combat TF vs. Ground Units - CV's Stop Attacking!

Post by Capt Cliff »

I've noticed that Air Combat TF's suddenly stop attacking ground units! I get about 3 to 4 attacks then zip! There's no way of telling if the carrier is out of HE bombs. As an experiment I sent one of my three CV TF's back to Noumea. When it returned it immediately started attacking ground units, while the other two CV TF's sat and did nothing. Is there a limited number of ground strikes availible to Air Combat TF's? If so can the number of possible strike be displayed somewhere?

This isn't a bug, but should not be something you learn from experience!

Just guessing but High Fatigue in the CV Bombing Sq`s ?

I`ve noticed that some units ( PBY`s ) will not perform Recon when they have Fatigue over 40. After Rest it goes down and they fly the Recce Missions...

I agree this is something we should hear from the developers on

I didn't check the fatigue and I don't have a saved game for that time frame but the saved game I do have has a fatigue of 5 to 10 after 5 days of air ops. It was just after this saved game that I noticed the air groups were not flying ground ops, they would attack naval units. Morale was low, but so what! That doesn't mean they don't get orders to fly! March or Die!

There is a morale check (manual p.80) if moral < 50 ... so it may explain that they refuse to attack ... (Christian Fletcher is back :D )

Thanks Spooky, I'll run the saved game and see if the morale drops.

I don't see why it's dropping. They're sinking ships, killing Japs and taking little or no loses. I did have one air group with 11 SBD's, out of 18, left with low morale. But the other air group on the ship was still at full strength. Why should the morale drop when their doing their job. The group a full strength should have flown. I'll run it again and see.
