Okay guys, Give me the core you want me to play Stalingrad ENH and I'll post the results in the AAR.

actually I have recently updated that one a little.
latest version is posted at ENH website
In fact there were 3 scenarios missing that got left out somewhere in the past versions of SPWAW.
got one edited, 2 more to go.
I am playing that one right now actually, rather slowly though...... units above arrow are my core force PZ IV Gs are actually PzIV f2's I am using 2010 OOBs..LOL
Crewmen are of course some of my units that got destroyed during tcurrent battle

Alby,

Well, since I'm using Enhanced 2008, what core would you choose using Enhanced 2008?

Alby,

You say you updated Stalingrad ENH.  Will Enhanced 2008 work with the updated version?

I only updated a few units here and there, or redeployed something or another, it should work ok.

Alby,

I want to give your updated version a try.  I don't like your core (the one you chose using Enhanced 2010) because it uses SS troops.  However, I will try to approximate your core (swapping standard Wehrmacht for the SS units).  As soon as I get the updated version installed, I'll post my core here so we can compare it to your Enhanced 2010 core.  Okay?

Alby,

I downloaded your revised Stalingrad ENH campaign.

There is a problem.

Sure enough, there are listings for battle #26 and battle #27 and battle #28 when I looked at the campaign using the campaign editor, but there are no attached battles in the campaign!  Battles #26, and #27 and #28 are empty!  Where are the missing three battles??

If you see them in the campaign editor, then they are indeed there...what do you mean they are empty?
[&:]
use chandla's WAW editor and check em.
27 and 28 I have not had time to edit yet however so they might play a little wierd.
these battles were lost in some previous upgade of spwaw going back to v7.1 maybe, someone discovered they were missing and sent them to me, but as of yet I have not got them done, as they are kinda large.

Alby,

Here is what I mean by 'empty' (see attached screenshot). Notice how battles #26 and #27 and #28 have scenario information but no attached scenarios. This is the Staligrad ENH campaign I downloaded yesterday off of the Enhanced Forum site.

Also, in the .zip file containing the campaign, the text files for battles #26 and #27 and #28 are also missing (c010i026, c010i027, c010i028, etc., are all missing).

V...check to see if when you extracted it, that it didnt create a nested Stalingrad folder inside your campaigns folder.
heres how mine looks...
I did however forget to add the text files, so I went ahead and added them and reuploaded entire file and made sure text files were included.

Alby,

Everything seems to be okay now.  I won't know for sure until I get to the late battles, but it looks okay for now.  Seems as though my using Enhanced 2008 has something to do with the troubles I had.  For many reasons, I cannot upgrade to Enhanced 2009 (and, no, you don't get to know the reasons).  So, I'm using Enhanced 2008 for the foreseeable future.

I'll be posting an AAR as soon as I get the thing set up.  Looks like my core is going to be 'roughly similar' to your core.  Roughly, yes.  Similar, not so much.  But you'll see for yourself soon enough.

Also, I'll be using a watered down version of the 'Reduced Carnage' settings.  It's watered down because playing against the computer is different than playing against another person.  However, I'm the one getting the weaker settings.  The computer's settings will be stronger than mine...

Oh well.  The updated version of Stalingrad ENH doesn't work well with Enhanced 2008.  I was afraid of that.  This is one of the reasons I didn't want Enhanced 2009.  Specifically, the changes you made to the weapons and weapons slots in ENH 2009 are incompatible with ENH 2008.  For example, Soviet HMGs now have 45mm AT guns in weapon slot 3 (they are supposed to have rifles).  This means that Soviet HMGs are seriously deadly if you try to use ENH 2008 to play the updated Stalingrad ENH campaign.  There are other weapons anomalies as well, but you get the idea.  Trying to use ENH 2008 to play the new Stalingrad ENH is most likely impossible (I have no idea what other weapons/equipment issues will arise in the campaign since I'm only on Turn 1 of the first battle).

Every time you guys screw with Enhanced it invalidates everything that has gone before.  Pisses me off.  Every campaign, every scenario, everything now has to be updated to Enhanced 2009 or else it doesn't work.  This is worse than Windows Vista.  Please leave Enhanced alone.  You are not making things better.  The only thing you guys are doing is ruining all campaigns and scenarios that were designed with an earlier version of Enhanced.  And since there is no way for people to access earlier versions of Enhanced (since you take away all links to them), then people are forced to use the latest version of Enhanced.  Thus invalidating all previous scenarios/campaigns designed with earlier versions of ENH.

I have a close friend I've known for many years who has spent more than 2 years designing a campaign for SPWaW.  Problem is that he has been using an earlier version of Enhanced.  Now, nobody can play his campaign (which is due to be completed within the next few months) because it would take him at least a year to update it to 2009.  By which time ENH 2010 will be released, thus ruining any effort on his part spent trying to update it to 2009 (which he probably won't waste his time doing in the first place because he realizes that it would be a futile effort since he can't keep up).  And so on.  And thus a really great SPWaW campaign is going down the drain (plus the 2+ years it took to design and develop it) all because he couldn't keep up with all the Enhanced revisions you kept proliferating.  And now nobody is ever going to get to play it.  He put his SPWaW heart and soul into that campaign.  And that really pisses me off.  He was "this close" to completing it...

[You guys have no idea how much enjoyment you might have gotten from that campaign.  I've played a lot of SPWaW campaigns and I know how great his campaign was going to be.  But unfortunately it looks like you guys will never know.  All because he couldn't keep pace with changes to Enhanced.  One of the reasons he decided to do the campaign in the first place was because he was assured that Enhanced FV was going to be the true and honest Final Version.  He actually believed you guys when you said that.  So he made the enormous commitment to try and do his SPWaW campaign.  But you guys lied and now he is left with a fabulous campaign that now is incompatible with ENH 2009 and nobody can play.]

Well I like all the work that these fine fellows have done over the years and continue to do, on a volunteer basis no less. Keeps breathing new life into this old gem.[&o]

So, please contiue making new versions of Enhanced. May it never be the final version.....[8D]

Wrong answer.

No, what is needed to really breathe new life into SPWaW are new scenarios and campaigns. Enhanced DV and DVRN worked (and still works) just fine. What you are witnessing with all these revised versions of Enhanced is simply people with too much time on their hands who can't leave well enough alone. Every new version of Enhanced undoes and ruins all the previous campaigns and scenarios.

EDIT: How do I know this? Because they told us that Enhanced FV was the Final Version. Get it? They lied.

It's the wrong answer for you maybe but you have no idea how I or anyone else plays and enjoys these revisions. If you don't like the changes then just save the version you like (including the scenarios that match), I must have 3 at least on my harddrive, and only use it. No one is forcing you to keep pace withthe rest of the world.[8D]

A bit strong, since the ENH team believed it to be so at the time. That makes it an error, not a lie.

Let's keep this civil, please.

That said - I'm not a big fan of '09. I LOVE '08, and look forward to trying '10. The beautiful part of Modding is exactly what Barthheart pointed out. You can use whichever mod you wish, especially with Modswapper to switch the files around easily. I would like to see the ENH team eventually post each version for download. Then the question of compatibility is a moot point, since most versions would be posted, and easily popped in and out.
