Invalid serial

Post by juanchopancho »

I'm trying to install all the updates but every time I try I'm getting the "invalid serial" error.

I un/re-installed Harpoon, tried again, same thing. So I logged into the matrix support website, looked at my purchases and serial #s copy pasted my Harpoon serial number into the update thing and I get the same error.

I can't install any of the updates, help!

Highly annoyed right now.

I don't mean to increase the level of annoyance but I have a few questions.

Are you sure you are using the Harpoon: Commander's Edition serial number? Sometimes people try to use the H3ANW SN with HCE and vice versa.

Are any of the installers accepting the serial number (i.e. 2007.000 installs but 2008.044 doesn't)?

Can you verify that the error you are getting happens during the install (versus when you try to start the game)?

Has the game worked at all with the SN, ever?

You may want to open a helpdesk ticket for Matrix to handle, http://www.matrixgames.com/helpdesk/step_one.asp I may write code for the game but I don't handle serial numbers and such outside of the most basic issues such as the above.

Yes sir, I only bought the Commanders Edition.

The main installer works fine with my serial and I can start the game. Only the updates reject my serial.

I checked my windows registry entries and the serial number matches.

I've never had issues with serial numbers before. I came to post this issue on this forum only to find my previous forum account was deleted.[8|]

Could it be a firewall blocking or something?

It wouldn't be a firewall issue, Internet access isn't used at all in verifying the serial numbers. Definitely give the Matrix ticket system a try (see link in my earlier post). If you don't get help within a couple of days, holler again.

The only other thing I would make sure to check is if you installed the patches into the same directory as the original game, not doing that could cause issues.

Held Desk reply, I literally LOL'd:

Hi
Please uninstall your game, reboot, turn off all firewall and anti virus software, reinstall your game, reboot, turn off all firewall & anti virus software install the updates from oldest to newest, rebooting between each then play. Enjoy your game!

Nevermind, I I'll play something else.

Hi Juancho

For me the same answer from support.....

I did'nt check every update but once they changed the serial number validation. For about a year i play H3 ANW and not HCE anymore so i thing in 2008 they changed somehting....

it is not my work the check every update to see which one changes the serial validation.
Matrix support should do their job....

Keep bugging support and if you continue to get silly suggestions from them, contact Erik Rutins directly. If that fails to work we can contact Matrix on your behalf. You haven't said much about the circumstances (like answering the above questions), can you provide more detail while waiting for more replies from Matrix?

Thanks and sorry to hear you are having trouble.
