Operation CANNAE:
The historic battle of Cannae was 08/02 216 BC and part of the Second Punic War. Near the italian village of Cannae in Apulia, Hannibal wiped out a roman Army numbering 80.000 infantry and 6.000 cavalry. Whith only 40.000/10.000, many of whom were only keltic allies, Hannibal managed to surround the roman army. Excepty the cavalry, hardly one man of the infantry survived or wasn't captured.
Operation TRASIMENE:
In the battle of the trasimene lake, Hannibal wiped out two roman armys in srping 217 BC. This time with superior numbers, he only suffered just 10% of the enemy's casualties.

the FLAK fire over pago pago is a real hell and most of the bombers were brought down by the AA fire. beside that, several allied AK/AP were hit around pago pago.
overall, 75 japanese planes were destroyed in the last turn and we lost 45 with most of the pilots rescued.
we will see what the intention of my respected opponent is..at pago pago and in india. there are alot of allied troops in india and nearly no troops were brought to mandalay from N india. so india isnt defenceless.

Operation TRASIMENE:
The Operation began yesterady with several strikes at shipping in and around Pago Pago. The Flak was horrible and brought down 47 planes for just two bomb hits on the subs in the harbour. Today's air operations were more successfull, several AKs, APs a DD and other Escorts were sunk. Unfortunately all were already unloaded.
Operation CANNAE:
Enemy airstrikes against the ships of Operation CANNAE were useless. The enemy lost 46 bombers without hitting a single ship.

-air loses today were 111 allied and 47 japanese planes. since its clear where the enemy landed in india, counter measures are on the way to eliminate the landing fleet and its cover tomorrow. nearly 400 allied planes (fighters, FB, level bombers...) will be unleashed against the japanese and even his "uber-CAP" will not stop all attacks. the first spitfire units, which should make short work with his nasty ME 109 and zeros, are on the way and should see action within the next days. i am happy that he landed so close to dacca, calcuta and other surrounding big air bases.[:D]
-in N australia, heavy attacks on enemy AF at timor (120 B-17 and B-25 from darwin) were succesfull and the enemy was forced to pull back his air power from timor to the north. alot of enemy betty/nells were destroyed on ground in the last turns at timor.
-in pacific, it seems that fidji is the next target of the empire since his carrier fleet got a bloody nose when trying to attack pago pago few turns ago. the 3 bases around pago pago are well manned and supplied and the home base for hunderts of allied planes (fighters, FB, DB, search planes, B-25, B-26, B-17...).

spitfires finaly enter combat over india and help to maintain air superiority over calcuta:
out of a 60 planes strong japanese fighter sweep over calcuta, 12 are shot down (9 by the new spitfire units) for 35 allied fighters (9 spitfires and mostly obsolate P-40, mohawk, hurricane, buffalos). there are 47 spitfire in the pool now with a overall 40/months replacement rate and i hope to upgrade all obsolate fighter planes to this babies when the british can finaly upgrade in may 1942.
