Leader Assignments

Post by Heeward »

When we want to change a leader:
Will we see only a list of unassigned leaders?
Will we all available leaders eligible for assignment?
If the last option is true, will we see those leaders that have assignments - what they are commanding? So that I know if my proposed candidate already has a job.

So you have to sack someone before you can reassign them[&:]

Well think about it. If you want Gen Wonderful (who currently commands the Army of Northern Virginia) to replace Gen Nobrain in command of the Army of the Potomac, then who will be commanding the Army of Northern Virgina? You would have to replace him as well, right?

Ok so we will only see available commanders. Will we know if they are currently employed and by what

I need a better fighter squadron commander - I do not want to take a commander from an existing front line squadron, I generally want someone who is currently unemployed.

I need a better fighter squadron commander - I do not want to take a commander from an existing front line squadron, I generally want someone who is currently unemployed.

And when I look at my front line squadrons and see officers with Leadership and Inspiration in the 40s...then I have a nice green pasture for them to graze in. And take one of those unemployed officers and find some employment.

If their stats are in the 70s or higher, then it probably isn't a good idea to get rid of them.

I really base it off the needs I have at that moment, and in my PBEM I am finding that my biggest problem with air groups is morale, so I want the highest Inspiration rated officers I can find.

Heeward, I think that the answer is that if a leader is already assigned, he won't show up on the list.

So really if we want the BEST leaders we have to wade through all the patrol squadrons, restricted command home assigned squadrons, etc. and remove the good leaders from those squadrons, and THEN start replacing the front line squadrons.

Also, if an air group is withdrawn, does its current leader get withdrawn with it? Or is he (or her for the Russians??) returned to the leader pool?

If the leader tab in Decoder (going to be shipped with AE) works like the one we have for stock it will tell you what units the best leaders are in.

My hat is off to the AE team for all the hard work they have done.

I have a question on TF leader assignments. In WitP, you either auto select the TF commander or take the flagship captain. If you want an admiral other than the auto select you have to pay PP for him. Since the auto select always gives you the perceived best available, I don't always like to use it. Spruance always seems to get tied up commanding an ASW TF.

Will the same TF commander process be in place for AE, or will it allow you to select the initial commander from available admirals without PP payment?
