Problems with Vista?

Post by barbarossa2 »

Has anyone had problems running CoG:EE on Vista?

COG:EE was mostly developed on Vista, though I switched to a Windows 2000 machine last fall.  I haven't had any problems running it on Vista.

I have Vista 32 and have had no problems.

I am not having any problems...I think...
So here's my problem, which may not be Vista related.
After I play several minutes, the response time for the mouse (any input device) starts to lag several seonds. It is enough of a bother, that I have to save, exit, and restart the game.

We have fixed some lag issues for the upcoming patch, so hopefully these will address the problems you are having with lag.

Thanks for the update
Here's some additional info
I've been play as France in the 1796 scenario, advanced econ
I did not notice any lag initially, but as the number of provinces and the size of the army and navy increased the lag increased from zero to about two seconds
Frankly, the two second is not much of the problem
Now I am at 1809 and the lag starts at two seconds at the start of the turn.
The more I manage province production, corps and army composiition and movements the lag grows to an unbearable 20+ seconds, at which point I save, exit and reload. I may do this three or four times to finish a turn.
I am at the point, I may have to shelve the game as unplayable, which is ashame, because it a fantastic game

Well I have tested it on Win2k (512Mb Ram), Win XP and Vista 32&64, all with no problems and no 'lag' - though the screen scrolling is not exactly smooth.

Rossj - It may sound silly but are you sure Vista isn't doing any updating? Also, do you know if you have Securom on your computer?(there's a removal tool on their website) I had it installed from another game and it caused all sorts of problems similar to what you describe though not just with games, the OS too. Worth looking into.

The date of the securom files corresponds to the date that I installed CoG EE
Is securom part of the CoG EE package?

Nope, most definitely not.
