We'll, that's a very good news, indeed [:D] So, can we expect a manual to be available a few weeks before release of the AE - just to be completely ready when AE become available ?[;)]

Well they keep telling us it will only be ready with the release so they can continue to make it reflect all the changes they make...

I know, but I have to try! [;)] And I can live with "unrefined" version of the manual! [8|]

Disclaimer: This is my opinion only, and not a "company line" of Matrix or anybody else.

I can understand if people are frustrated by this seemingly endless delay. Lots of time I, and the rest of the team, have been as well. We've seen several release deadlines come and go, and every time it's very difficult to muster the energy to go on.

But here's the thing: those release deadlines were pushed back FOR A REASON. Every single time we took a look at the product and had to admit that this was not something that was fit for release.

We're not doing this to be douchebags, but because we're gamers ourselves. We can look at this with both player and developer hats on, and see if it's ready, and there's no almighty publishing house standing behind us, pushing us to release to some arbitrary deadline. Kudos to Matrix for that.

We could have released this a long time ago, but it would have been an incomplete, inferior and quite frankly unworthy game.

My name is on the credits list for this product, and I don't want it to be anything less than something I can be proud of. I remember a quote from a game manual once (IIRC, for Civilization IV) along the lines of "we didn't want to be known as the team who broke Civilization". Well, we don't want to be known as the team who broke WitP.

We've all stuck with this game for nearly five years now, waaaay longer than most games live in this day and age, and we're just about to take a big leap forward. I love what we've done and are continuing to do with AE, and the vast majority of WitP gamers will too.

Rant over.

blah blah blah - get back in your hole - test, test, test, release [;)]

I've been thinking for some time now they release at Origins like the original WITP, though I certainly hope I'm wrong and it'll be sooner than that. In any event, the news from the Wargamer forums can't be bad news...

My hat is off to all of you. I tried my hand as a beta tester for a while and discovered that I just didn't have what it takes to make the cut. I think it says a lot of both Matrix and the AE team that you guys have stuck it out so doggedly and made so much progress in transforming WITP into something even better than the already great game it is. My fingers will be crossed that everything goes well for you guys in the coming months as AE is perfected. [&o][&o][&o]

now that's a real question i think - will the manual be released earlier (even for a few bucks) for us to learn about new stuff - just to jump right into the action after release?

(this was problably adressed, and the answer is probably no, but what the hell!)

We don't release manuals separate from our releases, but we will be releasing some pages and sections of the AE manual as a preview once the time is right.

I would love to see some or all of the manual. I would pay to download that! I really don't care about the cost. WITP has by far been the best value in a game I have ever bought. If I could actually figure out how many hours I have played the game (and I really am afraid of what I would discover), the amount of game time per dollar would make the game seem like the greatest bargain on earth. I have enjoyed this game very much for the past five years and look forward to AE when it is released. I also know there may be problems that arise and will require patches in the future. One must have realistic expectations from a piece of software. Thanks to the team doing this project!

I really don't think anyone is all that upset at the delays. Seriously. Most of the posts I see are very tongue in cheek.

Besides, the real vitriol will come soon after its' release. The history geeks will complain about capabilities, and others will provide an endless list of things that are "broken." We all know from WitP that it takes at least 3 years before anything is officially stamped broken in the game . . . with the possible exception of sub warfare.

With my 2nd child coming on June 27 or so, you have made my day. I will have something to do while I do graveyard shift watching her sleep. Thank you very much for the effort. I think I'll name her Terminita "Yamato Hugger" Schwartzstein. Catchy name.[:D]

We will not be at Origins this year, sorry to say, but we decided to pass on it this time. However, it will be available for sale here on our site as usual.

Didn't say it wasn't, but it seemed a bit disjointed at the time, which is another characteristic of a rant...
