Bombardment resupply question

Post by hbrsvl »

Hi-Playing v1806, Allies, scen. 15. Assume I hold Guam & Tinian. I want to invade the Bonins. My invasion convoy includeds a TF of OBB,CA, CL, & DDs.

When I click on, say, Nevada, she has 9 rounds per gun of 14 or 16 inch ammo. Just prior to landing, the OBB TF is set to mission-Bombardment. Fine, TF carries out mission-but now Nevada shows 3 rounds per large gun.

I need to eliminate more CD guns, but haven't the large caliber rounds to do so. This is 1944, so AEs don't replentish ammo.

Is there some way to limit the amount of ammo expended per turn, so I can have 2 or more shoots before having to retire to Tinian for resupply?

Or, do I have to split the OBB TF into smaller groups? Advice, please.

Thanks, Hugh Browne

castor troy-Thanks. Now I know. Don't worry, I'll come up with more questions. Just wait until AE comes out.

Again, thanks, HB

Your cruisers have more ammunition, so they could carry out more bombardments if the battleships were not present.

unfortunately NOT... they also expend all their "spare" ammo in one turn, only keeping some back to stay ready for any surface combat that could happen. No matter what ship type does bombardments, you only have ONE round.

Castor,

I'm not so sure of that; I've certainly seen my cruisers conduct bombardment missions on a second day after bombarding the same target the night before, without rearming.  You've got to change their mission back to bombardment but it is possible.
