Not Involved in Battle issue

Post by NeverMan »

I have 3 corps loaned to me from PR (I am AU) and France is attacking these loaned corps. I have loaded France's land phase but am unable to look to see what is attacking me because it tells me I am not involved in the battle. Sigh, another bug?

Marshall,

So we communicating the corps types and leaders via email (since I couldn't see them and I ALSO couldn't see my own forces, which of course sucks when trying to pick chits since I don't have every force of every game memorized).

Now, he sent me the Battle file, I put it in my Battles folder (which was empty) and now I get the "Awaiting Battle File from Opponent" message WITHOUT a battle screen opening and allowing me to choose my chit, is this normal?

We have had almost the exact same problem in our game. Marshall, bu coincidence, Borium has sent you the relevant file in the other recent thread titled "missing one corps". In this game, France (the current phasing player) has attacked two British corps at La Rochelle, however the British player can not open the battle files as he is declared a not a participant in the battle, getting the exact same error messages as Neverman is reporting. Can you take a look at the file that Borium sent you at the same time you look at Neverman's.

That's because you put the Battle file in the Battles folder before you took a look.

The original attachment was WITHOUT the Battle file, I couldn't look at any of the forces in the area (not involved in battle): BUG.

The 2nd attachment is WITH the Battle file and I can't participate in the battle (awaiting battle file from opponent): BUG.

So really there are TWO BUGS here, one is very annoying and the other is game stopping.

This game is at a stand still currently due to this. Almost a year of real time play and here we are, the first major battle and it all goes to the dogs.

It looks like to me that the prussian corps are under prussian control since they are all prussian.
Try passing the battle to the prussian player.

They are loaned to Austria so therefore Austria SHOULD be doing the battle NOT Prussia.

At what point are control of corps transfered? At the beginning of each players land phase? Because then at least this bug would make sense. If not, I don't know, you have the code. If I had the code I might be able to tell you.

I believe they were repatriated when the French attacked and ONLY Prussians were defending.

??????????

So either way this is still a bug and needs to fixed, right? Why would they be "repatriated"? This doesn't make sense.

It probably should be changed but they are repatirated if there are no Austrians involved. If some of your AU forces were there they would have stayed Au BUT I cannot tell if they were under Au control.

1. They were loaned to AU.
2. If corps are loaned and then get repatriated if they get attacked then the loaning system is BROKEN/BUGGED and needs to be fixed.
3. Like I said, this game is currently stopped and not moving forward due to this MAJOR game STOPPING BUG.

I don't understand why they would have been repatriated here. Among other problems, if Pr loans to Au, and France moves first, then if the corps are repatriated when Fr attacks the Prussian stack, whatever joint plans Pr and Au had for their phase are now impossible, since they can no longer join up for an attack, or use common supply.

If it's just a temporary repatriation for the duration of the battle, to allow the true owner to do the chit picks, I guess it's not a real problem (so long as the loan is reinstated for the allies' movement), but even then it seems an unnecessary complication.

Hearing this really makes me wish that the effort had been taken to incorporate combined land movement into this game. Frankly, that's really the only weapon Austria, Prussia and Russia have against France.

Cheers,

Ted

Sadly, for us, this is EXACTLY what we are trying to do.

Can you guys send me the French land phase right before the French player moves in to attack?
I would like to make the moves myself and see this when it happens. I can also maybe prevent/reverese the repatriation!
