Unit production out of control?

This sequel to the award-winning Crown of Glory takes Napoleonic Grand Strategy to a whole new level. This represents a complete overhaul of the original release, including countless improvements and innovations ranging from detailed Naval combat and brigade-level Land combat to an improved AI, unit upgrades, a more detailed Strategic Map and a new simplified Economy option. More historical AND more fun than the original!

Unit production out of control?

Post by jnpoint »

I am holding back producing a lot of units, because I am waiting for the right ones to come (for example howitzer), but then the computer produces a lot of units (10-15 units). I want the total control back!! I am playing advanced economy, and have only expert control over trade! Is this normal? Can I do anything?

You can reduce your feudal levey; this will cut back the automatic units considerably.  Be careful.  It can have dramatic effects on your National Morale.

HiHi

I think if you reduce your 'Military readiness' below 100% you will not have Feudal levies popping up all over the place, saves money too.

You can also just disband the levies you do not particularly want

Thats what I do. I keep cavalry or artillery or exotic or high morale infantry levys. Everything else I disband, unless I am in the middle of a war and need those troops immediately.

I really dont understand the aversion some players have to free troops. They are free man! If you get something you dont like or need and want room to build something else... disband it!

Problem solved.

They're not free.  You still have to pay upkeep, and that gets expensive quite quickly.  Not to mention that they are a micromanagement headache.

Reducing Feudal Levy to 0 doesn't cut everything out.  neither does reducing readiness to 80 or 60.  Although I haven't tried 50 yet.  But at 50, your units are half the size?

It's great that they are free but if you want to build something else there instead they get in your way.
