Operation BACKYARD:
With the fall of Manila, operation BACKYARD is finished.

Operation TRASIMENE:
Our troops were ordered to attack Suva. It's expected to fall tomorrow.

After two days of russian airstrikes against imperial forces in Manchuria, the Emperor ordered a retaliation strike against Vladivostok. The damage inflicted was serious, Russia declares it isn't interested in any further escalation.

the red army answerd to endless violation of our air space by japanese recon flight during the last weeks by starting a air attack on a japanese military target near the borderline between the 2 countries. the japanese answerd with a air attack on vladivostok which costs them 35 planes and 55 of our own planes.

the government of the USSR has deep respect for the empire of japan and its working class and dont want any hostilities between us. we hope that the disgruntlement will end and will be replaced by friendship and harmony again.[:D]

finaly some good news. the british "force M" made a high speed bombardement run from calcuta to cox bazar to destroy some of this nasty japanese He-100 fighters...something my fighters are not able to do at the moment.

the force consisted several CA and CL and did a much better job then expected. the force killed at least 3400 of the 91.000 japanese troops there but what is more important: not less then 59! japanese He-100 were destroyed on the ground. this preformance was in the best tradition of the RN. further dispositions are made to use this great success. bombers will try to keep this AF closed from now on.

in the pacific PH and pago pago area are real fortresses now with hunderts of fighters, FB, DB, recon planes and level bombers and several divisions on them. the enemy has a strong presence at fidji and is flying recon missions over the pago pago area..maybe thats his next target.

Despite the impudent lies of the Allied High Command, we defended Cox's Bazar with great success! The losses on the ground were neglible, several british Cruisers were sunk!

last turn brought us some action in the dark blue waters between burma and india. the japs attempted to supply their besiegend troops at cox bazar (90.000 men trapped there) with a small AK/MSW TF and were intercepted in the middle of the way by the vigilant RAF pilots based around calcuta:

this obsolate japanese fighters are no match for modern US medium and heavy bombers. the CAP was penetrated without problems and the airfield blasted with 68 direct hits. next month, the B-24D will be available and join the darwin bomber groups in their destrucitive work.

finaly i got this nasty HE-100 tripple ace! possible that he was a victim of one of the spitfire sqn. from calcuta.

air loses were very heavy in the last turn 155 (a) : 55 (j) mostly because of this excellent sweep&bomb tactic of my respected opponent.

in the last turn however, the allied took revange. a bombardement TF consisting several fast CA/CL/DD made a highspeed run to cox bazar from calcuta and destroyed 70 nasty HE-100 on the ground. after daylight, nearly 120 bombers from calcuta and dacca joined to finish the destruction work and destroyed another 30 japs AC at the ground. so the lose rate of the last turn was 5 (a) : 100 (j).

the enemy carriers are confirmed at singapur harbor...with the new arrived carriers, my opponent can strike with not less then 870! carrier based AC soon while i have to wait until mid 1943 to get at least the same number of carrier based ACs.

When I used the airfield of Cox's Bazar again, he did what I expected - and sent his bombardement force again.

the japanese CV raid to ceylon costs us 2 CL but at least 40 japanese KB elite pilots. most of them (at least 27 kates) were shot down by british flak. this 3.7 pounder and 40mm bofors flak units are a nasty opponent for this unprotected japanese planes.

mai 1st 1942. labor day.

its a dark day for chiang kai-shek. the pearl of north china, sian falls into the hand of the japanese barbarians. nearly 8000 japanese assault points made quick work with the defenders. after 2 weeks of intense fighting, the defending chinese army gave up the city to avoid more civilian casualties and retreats to N and W. here the situation.

05/06/42:

the allied send a clear message to the japanese high command about the air situation over india.

49 fighters (spitfires and P-40) escort not less then 195 bombers (blenheims, wellingtons, B-25 and B-17) to cox bazar and bring destruction over the japanese installations there. there are now 7 spitfire sqdn. available in india and will make short work with any japanese navy or army fighter.

Colombo, Ceylon, was invaded half a week ago and immeadiately captured. As the CD guns did quite some damage, I disbanded the whole fleet - including the CVs - in the harbour.
The next day, my heart nearly stood still when he sweeped Colombo with far more than 100 Spitfires, wipeing away my CAP.
Countless bombers attacked... - the airfield! I could hardly believe my eyes. This highly experienced (from bombing Cox's bazar) bombers annihilated most of the airfield but did no damage to the ships.
If they had hit the harbour instead, I doubt that many of my carriers would've left unharmed. This may have ment that none of my carrier based planes may have flown the next day.
Shocked by this, I reaced and created TFs with most of the undamaged ships. Some heavily damaged APs AKs and PGs were left in the harbour as their floating was so serious that I considered their chance of survival higher in the port than at sea, despite the expected air attack.

Everything came different:
Obviously he now hat the idea to attack the port - even with carriers! As the carriers were at sea now, their CAP was fully functional wipeing out most of the attacking bombers while the Seafires proved to be very good:

Despite all four carriers and two CLs sunk, he still had luck!
Many of my bombers targeted the two carriers in the strikes following the first one - but they were already sunk. As the eninge doesn't allow them to search alternative targets, these strikes were totally useless!
Moreover, most of my D3A groups still had the order to fly ASW missions. Another 150 Vals might have been quite nasty to his destroyers and CLs.


Consumption:
His idea was good, really good! I was playing bad by disbanding my fleet to the harbour. If he had attacked there, he might have achieved in sinking several carriers.
Unfortunately for him, my carriers were fully operational when he arrived. Moreover, the shock of the first day made me create TFs.

If he had showed more patience with the first strike and coordinated the sweep, LB-attack on Colombo and the Carrier strikes, he might have caught me with my trousers down!

after my disaster with the RN carrier force, the enemy landed in india at trivandrum. the japanese forces advance to NE and were stopped at mangalore (TK and INF) and madurai (2 DIV. andsupport troops). at mangalore, they were even forced to retreat after a british counterattack.

the japanese troops in india are under constant heavy bombardement of the RAF and american units. medium and heavy B-17, wellingtons, B-24 and B-25 bombers cause alot of casualties and i can say that the japanese advance in india is stopped.

here the situation map:





in the pacific, the allied high command decided to reduce the strong japanese air presence at fidji island. several bombardement TFs consisting more then 11 BB, heavy air bombardement from pago pago consisting more then 240 B-25 and B-24 and the strong CAP over the allied carrier fleet destroyed not less then 350 japanese planes on the ground and in the air. the enemy airfields at fidji are empty lunar landscapes now. the allied lost 30 wildcats and 80 bombers.

in china, IJA planes attacked a chinese troop concentration N of changsha for several turns. general stilwell set a CAP trap for the japanese planes. 62 chinese P-40 were transferd to changsha and intercapted a 200 planes strong japanese strike force N of the city. the japanese bombers were escorted only by 27 oscars and the chinese pilots were able to get close to the bombers. for 15 P-40, the chinese AF managed to shoot down 35 japanese fighters and bombers.

massive air attacks on japanese troop concentrations around madurai cause heavy loses to the invaders.
enemy troops withdraw! from madurai to prevent beeing surrounded by allied troops advancing from mangalore to the south.

british troops coming from madras advance to madurai from SE.

-south pacific:

US invasion fleets beginn landing operations at nandi (fidji). there seem to be only 5000 japanese troops there, so i expect a short fight there. at suva, there are 70.000 japs reported and it will need a long and hard fight to eliminate them. weak japanese air attacks cause heavy damage to 1 AK and medium damage to a CA and 3 more AKs. allied BBs continue bombarding the japanese troops on the island. KB is located at singapur and will need at least 2 weeks to replace its loses and arrive at fidji, so i have to use this time to secure the island.

-N australia. darwin air forcehad some stressfull days. several japanese fighter sweeps and escorted and unescorted bombers attack the AF there. in 3-4 days, the japanese lost over 100 fighters (mostly zeros with their pilots!) and 40-50 bombers. the allied loses were 60 fighters (P-38, kittyhawks, P-39) while most of the pilots survived. the star over darwin is a aussie kittyhawk pilot who managed to shoot down 11! japanese planes in just 3 days and is the leading allied fighter ace now.
