PBEM mode is somewhat strange

Post by deVada »

:)
Hi !
While playing by e-mail with one of fellows
we experienced strange something.
After copying saved&zipped files containing opponent's turn Japanese player made execution phase. Then he maked
his turn. Game was saved few times in meantime. Then Japanese
player ordered "End turn" and sent files (including .VCR) to the Allies.
There were big differences between battle report and data shown in VCR /number of hits etc./
Anybody knows how to explain that ?

Anyway - is it possible to supply allied bases many times one week just by saving PBEM game, loading it (watching Routine Convoy System), saving, loading etc. ???
the more You play - the less You understand ... :p

just like my earlier post that Mika answered About allied convoys having a PBEM bug when saving (yes, they are resupplied every time one resumes a saved game), i suspect this is another bug related to saving. As you wrote,

The variations are huge in the above case. In one vcr replay 5 IJN ships were sunk but the saved game only had one; in another previous one, 5 allied ships sunk in saved game but BATTLE and SUNK report shows only one going down. Entire land/sea/air/sub attacks are missing, or entire attacks occur without being displayed in the vcr replay or the BATTLE section of the Allied UTIL menu

However,as the Allies, I did recieve a .vcr file from a player that was exactly the same in the BATTLE report as in the vcr file. i suspect he did that turn all at once, without saving, immediately after the execution phase.

I assume many of you super quick moving grognards never save PEBM turns in mid stream and just save them the end; if you do SAVE in mid stream "a few times in meantime", you will see disparities i mentioned, I think. Allies , look at vcr files, and then look at BATTLE reports. With the aforementioned Allied supply bug, i think this sucks to high heaven

Second (or third) bug is that allied commander can by just saving 'n loading thy game during his order phase use million SIGINT points and view everything what's available until he gets bored of it.

no known protection against it ?

maybe then
Matrix EXECUTION Special System /MESS/
should be founded ?

players could send their moves to the Matrix server, it could make execution phase and send VCR's by e-mail back to players with savegame to the Japanese side

/vcr's may be available for public in order to incerase value of the site - other people would be able to comment or learn, what 'bout a site with "hardest battles", we could organize a competition - i.e. : "which Japanese leader kills more Allied troops in one week ?"/

should be entertaining ...
