Should I Buy?

WW2: Road to Victory is the first grand strategy release from IQ Software/Wastelands Interactive, which covers World War II in Europe and the Mediterranean. Hex-based and Turn-based, it allows you to choose any combination of Axis, Allied, Neutral, Major or Minor countries to play and gives you full control over production, diplomacy, land, air and naval strategy. Start your campaign in 1939, 1940 or 1941 and see if you can better the results of your historical counterparts. A series of historical events and choices add flavor and strategic options for great replayability.

Should I Buy?

Post by Leeds »

Have been a Europa player for near 30 years; have played Strat Command: Blitzkrieg, TOAW, etc and am contemplating WiE.

Initial reviews were not that hot but it seems that the mods and patches may have improved things?

Is this game a buy? What mods are recommended?

Thanks

This game is more like SC Blitz than Europa or TOAW. You will kill the AI eventually. I have never understood the naval rules. IMO you need to balance it toward the Axis a bit if you re going HtH but with a bit of effort it is really fun. You can buy worse games.

If you are still not decided it is best to wait for the next update.
It will take us some more time, but within two weeks we should release some screenshoots and changelog.

I don't understand your suggestion that he wait. Can't he get the game now and do the patch when you release it? What's the advantage in waiting.

I think doomtrader was saying that if he _can't_ decide, he should check back again once the next update is available as it will improve things quite a bit more and will likely convince him to give it a try.

What the...
So that's why it took so long... and was there no news about that promised update.  I suspect they completely overhauled the game, dropping it for "Time of Wrath" And I was about to buy it too, only waiting for that update. Ah well, it looks nice, we'll have to see.
