No kidding, I am an unemployed marine that can't get a job locally because only thing available is fast food, only education I have is in computers and its useless in central florida right now. Be great if I could get paid to play WiTP, would have the best job ever and work for the BEST company ever! Hmm don't think matrix bought my sucking up.

I got out of the army in the late 70s and went to computer school. Last programming job I had they were looking for an entry level person and they had over 60 applicants with 5 or more years experience. Went to truck driving school in 1984 and havent regretted it for a minute.

I am also Trucker YH. Are you a OTR driver or a local?
As for loving this game. I stay on the fringes and am currently playing the AI waiting for AE to come out. The I hope to dive into a PBEM. I might be going long hual and if that happens I would have all kinds of time for WiTP.

As the days crawl by and this morphine-addict goes cold turkey, I'll let you know what life is like without WitP for a WitP-addict. Can I do it? I hope so. But I wonder....

So you mean we can wait for an AAR of your post WitP life??

No, this won't be a diary of the everyday life of Canoerebel. I'll just occasionally post about the mental struggles in overcoming a WitP addiction, and whether or not I succeed.

Canoerebel, couldn't you compromise and just play the AI? I find PBEM does take over my life, but the AI is well-suited for casual play. With the AI, I don't fret and plan and scheme in commute to work. I just play, have fun, move on.

I'd suggest a shorter break until AE arrives, then resolve to play only the AI for four months.

Mostly local line haul (here to there at night), some P&D when they really REALLY need me for it (I hate P&D). I used to be an instructor (one of only about 30 licensed CDL instructors in the state of Minnesota). Miss the road though. Thinking about going back out on the road maybe in June since I can get on-line anywhere pretty much now.

Beer and tatas will break any habit. I don't care how good habit you can't deny the TaTas.
Why Tatas? I don't feel like a mod giving me the glare.

A young man turns fitfully in his bed, robbed of sleep by the certain knowledge that others like him are even now scouring through a list of Royal Thai Army commanders, searching for just the right leader for the King's Own Elephantine Cavalry. He tries to close his eyes but the sight of the cottage cheese ceiling texture is replaced by the outline of the East coast of Malaya in meticulous detail. The image is replaced by that of HMS Repulse at flank speed as Betty bombers approach at wavetop. He draws a deep breath and throws his feet over the side of the bed......

Been there, done the equivalent. On more than one occasion I have almost started conversations with various folks about events taking place in my current game.

Gah! I just went two and a half weeks without a PC because my old one fried, not an easy feat, I found myself reading board game manuals, they acted as a form of methadone for me. I almost broke down and went to my neighbors house to *borrow* theirs. [;)]

For lent, I gave up liver, cauliflower and sex with my wife-but not WITP. It was hard but I survived.[:D]

Seriously, I have been addicted to gaming for all my life. Boardgames, computer-whatever. They say that metal exercise is critical and can stave of things like alheizmers. It takes up too much of my time but I remind my wife that I am not hanging out in a bar or pissing my money away on the golf course.

I'm 54 and still find time for some serious volleyball twice a week as well.

I think you are making the wise choice. Spend a little time fawning over your wife for the next few months.
