'Remove defenses' does what?

'Remove defenses' does what?

In writing a surrender treaty, I understand what 'Remove walls' does, but, what does 'Remove defenses' remove? Guns?

Please read p. 99 in the manual:
Remove Defenses – Specified nation must remove specified number of defenses,
i.e. Guns developments, divided among its provinces as equally as possible.
