Volume 2, Issue 5.

The Yankees hit me hard everywhere.
I lost my first battle. I moved north to Confederate controlled Central Mississippi River, but General Thomas beat me to it, and I end up going on the offensive. We caused a lot of Union casualties, but weak flanks cost me this battle.

I haven't gotten a reply from anyone for quite awhile.

I cannot help but think that great results would have been obtained had my views been thought better of; yet I am much inclined to accept the present condition as for the best.
