As an Allied player, I hate the loss of Christmas Island as once it gets to AF4, then Ms. Betty can reach out to the Panama Channel border and make getting anything to the Society Islands and beyond very hazardous.  Going through Panama makes the turn around time even longer.

To be honest, the allies aren't doing that bad since, if I remember correctly they are likely to save india and haven't lost major Fleet assets( iirc)... It is extreme Sir Robin, but if they haven't lost much, once they consider themselves strong enough, let's roll !!

veji1 is right.  Nothing crippling has happened in this game to either side, assuming the Allies hold what remains of India, which it looks like they will.

Apparently the Allies decided that Hawaii and the Society Islands were going to be bastions, and that everything else (including the Line Islands) would be expendable.

Given the time they've had to solidify their defensese in CenPac and SoPac, the failure to "move out" and fully defend Palmyra and Christmas comes as a suprise to many of us, but it really doesn't mean a thing strategically unless the Allies intend to start their comeback by hitting those islands, because then they'd be fighting for ground they could've kept in the first place.

But it's far more likely that the Allies will strike deeper into Jap territory so that the most forward Jap positions will be cut off and become essentially irrelevant six months or a year from now.

Many of us would've done it a different way, but since the Allies haven't suffered a greivous blow yet, they'll be fine.  (That they haven't suffered a grevious blow isn't because John and Q-Ball haven't tried and haven't pushed, pushed, pushed as hard as they can).

Thinking a little bit further, only one thing can stop the Allies now.  If they suffered a costly and one-sided defeat in a carrier battle, they'd have a hard time, because then their advances would be tied to LBA, which would make their comeback much slower and more difficult.  But as long as the Allied carriers are intact, or as long as the ratio remains similar to what it is now, the Allies are fine and dandy in the Pacific.

I would agree with most of this but by refusing battle at all stages the Allies are not building any significant pilot experience. Having seen in my game how devastating 2000 lb bomb attacks can be, having as many BG with high EXP is an invaluable asset for the Allies.

It would be fun to send a Glen recon mission to Pearl to see if there is anything there.

Since there is only a light garrison at Palmyra there might be time to put KB in between Pearl & West coast

that way you might get a valuable shipping intercept, without leaving the area to support the line islands against a counterinvasion
it would also cut off retreat to pearl from any invasion on line/gilbert/wake/midway or any other backwater base.

and if nothing happens the homelands aren't that far away for upgrades [>:]

I wonder hows the Allies SS activity?  with the LOC spread the way that it is, i would think it would offer some tempting hunting grounds.  How are you working your supplies to the island?  do you have supplies comming in from the HI to say Tarawa and then have other ak's shuttling the supplies hither and yon?

I am thinking about this very idea Flag! First we grab the Line Islands, get some R&R and then raid...

My strategic partner has made important moves and THEN informed me of it! The Ceylon Invasion Force is formed and moving. Estimate that July 15th will be D-Day. Here is all the vital information:

Thought people might like to see the actual VP Card from the game to see all the various statistics at this point in the fight.

Still No Tojo's ...

Post by n01487477 »

Posted this elsewhere, but time I told you ...

R&D
Divided opinion here, but take it from me, if you manage your R&D you can get some good results. Think about picking just one or max two planes in '42 and maybe one long term project.

# Damaged R&D factories do not supply points, so a (1)30 factory will not supply R&D points until it is fully repaired.
# More factories doing R&D are better than less. If comparing just one 30(0) or 3 * 10(0) the latter is better.
# Larger factories do not supply more points - there is no substantial difference between a 30 and a 300 R&D factory.
# Factories that are damaged but Repairs turned off do not accrue points.
# Size 30 will give about 1 point per day... you need 100 to get a month off.

I HATE THIS GAME!

If I had known this we wouldn't converted the big lines at Mukden and Gumma...

Sorry John,
don't ... .... [:D][:D][:D]

Those lines are better for long range R&D or to augment other non R&D needs. But at least you'll be getting a good build of Tojo's in double quick time, and can move onto other R&D quickly. Still the loss of potentially 1/4 of factory capacity each time you convert IIRC, is something to remember.

Have a good one[8D]

Maybe we can shift those big lines over to something we want in 1943 like Jacks or FRANKS!!!
