slow TF question

Post by stretch »

Ive got an air combat TF with the Enterprise and Lexington in 1942 and it only seems to move about 12 hexes a turn even though the lowest ship is speed 30 and everyone has fuel (it just left port)

I also noticed this on an earlier air combat TF; I didnt think much of it until it happened again.

Anyone else seen this or am I just smokin' somethin?

Do you have a TF leader?

Is the TF subordinate to either CENTPAC or SOPAC? TFs subordinate to SWPAC or other HQs do not do as well.

Does the HQ have any PPs - how many?

Is somebody out of fuel?

>Do you have a TF leader?

yup

>Is the TF subordinate to either CENTPAC or SOPAC? TFs >subordinate to SWPAC or other HQs do not do as well.

ah I didnt know that, I will check and reassign as needed.

>Does the HQ have any PPs - how many?

how do you see PP for a TF? I've never figured this out, even in the editor I don't see how to find the PP's assigned to a TF. The HQ in charge of the base it was dispatched from had plenty as I haven't been using much.

>Is somebody out of fuel?

nope, just left port with everyone loaded. I did check and not assume the ships had full fuel.

Thanks!

How many PPs does the HQ have and how many TFs are subordinate to the HQ - that will pertty much tell you how well the TF will fare.

I have noticed this too in certain locations and just assumed that the route the TF was taking wasn't a straight line.

Well now its really bad. Sent a 4 CV TF to sea, it moved 10 hexes and stopped. Now its inching back to base at 1 hex per turn, as if out of fuel, but every ship has fuel. I'm basically deprived of all my CV's while the Japanese mount an attack on Guadalcanal.

The TF departed Espirutu Santo, which is the location of South Pacific HQ, which had 190PP when I ended the orders phase in which the TF left for sea. There are 3 other TF's that left from that base, but given its port is now 7 and the HQ is loaded with PP I didn’t see a problem.

I still dont see how to check the PP's an individual TF has allotted to it.

I have noticed this as well. Have had TF's just sitting there, not moving for several turns. Finally had to change the destination just to get them to move.

I have noticed this, too, but only for TFs going from San Fransisco to LA.

In my editor there is a section which, I think, shows the current TF PPs.

Also check the TF type column (in raw mode), if that TF has type >50, in which case it's considered retiring, which might cause things...
