The Axis is still holding in Scotland and the Bretagne. We need to make a tactical retreat at the northern East Front to plug all holes. German recruits are becoming very scarce. Soon we need to prioritize our theaters and give up areas in favor of others.

The Russians break through in the East, threaten Koenigsberg and encircle some German Inf. corps.
Only Aberdeen remains as a lonely German colony in Scotland. In France, we cannot beat back the US this time even though they are not as strong as the Russians. They are well supplied and have a huge air force with them. We try to contain them for as long as possible and do the occasional needle sting.
The Russians break through in the East, threaten Koenigsberg and encircle some German Inf. corps.

Aberdeen is still German but the US makes inroads on Nantes. The Russian gets into staging position for Koenigsberg and the mass of L5 armor looks scary.
Our social unrest situation and with it the German economy is a mess. This makes the nuclear strike much more powerful than just clearing one hex.

Aberdeen, our last city on the British Isles falls as well as Nantes in France. Koenigsberg is shielded by a line of three strong German L4 tank corps and the USSR has not leashed out at the city yet. The southern portion of the East Front is immobile and we slowly replace stronger German units for weaker Axis minors.

We hold in the west but suffer a Soviet break through south of our strongly defended front around Koenigsberg. We try to scrap together some units elsewhere to patch things up again. We still have to survive a long summer campaigning season. Our air force is still at level 2 (we consciously never invested a dime and now pay for it) and is almost useless against the L3 Russian and American fliers that are also more numerous. We cannot replace aircraft losses any more and withdraw the units to the interior for better times or to be scrapped (the latter being more likely).

Our combined tank strength points diminish from around 100 to about 30 in one turn. The US destroys one completely and we manage to do the rest ourselves by conducting an ill advised (since without air support) attack on a Soviet tank unit.

I didn't know about your F1 trick for the most part of the game and never transferred PPs out of the inland minors such as Bulgaria, Hungaria and Slovakia to Germany - and later I didn't bother any more. But I did not conduct research for these minors either. So they produced a lot of L1 Inf corps. Probably a mistake.

The East Front is in motion - in the wrong direction of course. The end of the war seems near but is still twelve moves away. Much can happen. The war weariness of the Soviets and Western Allies is our only hope. Otherwise we'd be doomed completely.

Well they can keep the Russkies from exploiting breakthroughs at least, if held behind the front line.
Agree, they take at least away on action point to be destroyed and then some more because of ZOC if you want to move through a gap in a line of them. But suddenly the second screen is the front line and they are all eaten up for breakfast. If all those units X 50PP were invested in German units, they'd be probably more useful.

The US blows a large gap into our line after encircling the northern portion of our West Front. In the East we focus on the defense of Danzig and Warsaw. It is a race against time now.

Collapse in the West and hanging on in the East. At least we don't have to worry about new landings in the Med since Gibraltar is still in our hands. It is well defended.

The German government tried to shield its population from the demoralizing news for as long as possible. But it seeped out eventually anyhow. Germans in Koenigsberg are under the jock of the Soviets. The first German city has fallen. In the West the collapse in central and southern France continues and we try to stop the US deluge at the Seine.

We relinquish most of France and hold on to the direct route into Germany. We will also try to hang on to Paris for as long as possible. We plan to defend Switzerland since it is ideal defense territory.
The East Front has moved another 250km - 300km westwards and the Soviets are much too close to Danzig for comfort. Between Warsaw and Poznan, they manage already to establishg a beachhead at teh western side of our much touted Vistula defense line.

We try to contain the constant Soviet breakthroughs in the East somehow. In France, the US has now filled the void we left in France and approached our new boundaries. Spanish troops shift from their coastal defense positions to the Pyrenees Mountains to slow down the fast advancing US troops once they reach that far south. Italian troops occupy Lausanne and Zurich.
We try to contain the constant Soviet breakthroughs in the East somehow. In France, the US has now filled the void we left in France and approached our new boundaries. Clutching on to the remaining VPs in Europe. Paris and its 5 VPs play a pivotal role in the outcome of the war especially since we expect to loose some VPs in the East as well in the next turns.

Still holding in west and east. But the VP in Warsaw is doomed. The defenders will not last long enough.
No threats in the Med. We were (and still are) worried that the USSR will attempt a late strike at Istanbul to enter the defenseless Middle East and N. Africa. We had to transfer the few troops that were holding key targets there to Europe already.
