Seems like AGEOD has another winner in the making. I assume that Matrix will pick this up.

I'll hold of calling it a "winner" until perhaps 4 months after initial release....

I am very confident on this one, but I will wait until I hear some feedback before I grab it.

It´s too bad the game doesn´t have any tactical engine where battles can be fought.

Some info -
RoP is of the same family of game engine as BoA, AACW, WiA, NC and the upcoming Vainglory. It's going to have a "grand campaign" and include unit recruiting like AACW - so it can be thought of as a sort of mix between AACW and NC. The command structure is also somewhere inbetween AACW and NC/BoA2 in simplicity (with AACW being the more complicated end) to properly model the command and unit tactics of the era. AGEOD plans to release RoP BEFORE Vainglory.

Just thought I would pass on some things I read from Wargamer and the AGEOD boards.

Too bad. The command chain was the best part in AACW.

Why too bad?
They have to streamline the command chain in ROP because SYW armies didn't have the same strict organization as in ACW: Army, Corp, Division, Brigade, Regiment.

+1
AGEOD use (or don't use) parts if his game motor rules and systems depending of the historical setting of the game to better represent the period feeling.
On the ACW game you have a complex and a very efficient command structure (at least from 1862 onward) and long supply lines you using rivers and rails you have to protect.
On Wars In America (XVIII century) the command and supply system is much more rudimentary as command and control and supply lines back then were not like in the ACW.
RoP will probably be something in between. The new command system has not been shown still, but they said there will be supply lines (maybe shorter range ones like in Napoleon Campaigns??)
