National leader portraits in diplomacy diagram

This sequel to the award-winning Crown of Glory takes Napoleonic Grand Strategy to a whole new level. This represents a complete overhaul of the original release, including countless improvements and innovations ranging from detailed Naval combat and brigade-level Land combat to an improved AI, unit upgrades, a more detailed Strategic Map and a new simplified Economy option. More historical AND more fun than the original!

National leader portraits in diplomacy diagram

In the beta versions, France gets a painting of Napoleon as Emperor:

But it appears that in the release version, the Nappy portrait was changed to the famous painting, Napoléon abdiquant à Fontainebleau by Paul Delaroche:

The full portrait is here:

I must say I much, much prefer the original painting, the one with Napoleon as Emperor. The release version uses a painting of Napoleon in 1814, defeated, haggard, tired. He has lost. This game is about the Europe in the Age of Napoleon. As such, I think a painting of the man from his "glory years" would embody that spirit much, much better. It's just depressing seeing a painting of a haggard and beaten Napoleon. Either the one used for the beta or something like the ones below would be more "upbeat". May I humbly recommend the developers change this in a later patch? Personally, I'd pick the one with him in uniform, as he was more of a soldier than a robe wearing monarch on a throne.

to be honest, that was not Nappy, that was Gil, which is why it was changed for the released verison

Dang it, HS, you told everybody!  That was supposed to be a secret!  Good grief...

The portrait changes during the game depending on whether or not France is doing well.  I think it's based on glory or national morale or something.

The portrait of Napoleon seems to frequently go AWOL in my games.  Like it literally disappears, frame and all, at some point in the game.

You know what, all that time I thought that that portrait of the person with the white fur doily and the gold olive branch thing was actually a Queen. Geeze . . . I was like, who is this? The Queen of Flanders or some such?
