What Diplo option to use?

This sequel to the award-winning Crown of Glory takes Napoleonic Grand Strategy to a whole new level. This represents a complete overhaul of the original release, including countless improvements and innovations ranging from detailed Naval combat and brigade-level Land combat to an improved AI, unit upgrades, a more detailed Strategic Map and a new simplified Economy option. More historical AND more fun than the original!

What Diplo option to use?

Post by JudgeDredd »

I am playing as Sweden and Denmark are walking all ove my land. What diplomatic option do I use? I'm pretty sure there was an option to issue an ultimatum (or I had an ultimatum issued against me)...but I can't see an option that tells Denmark to bugger off.

Whilst on the diplomatic question, now I have moved troops into (but not attacking) Denmark, I see the End of Turn report showing something like "Denmark has issued a complaint about Sweden violating her land" or something....
1. what diplo option is this (it could help me out with the above) and
2. does this have an affect? I mean, is it just sabre rattling or does the issue of the complaint cost me glory, or morale or wtf?

Thx

If major power violate your territory you will get automatic message where you can choose to declare war, issue ultimatum or ignore. This might not work with lesser powers may be.

If you violate territory of lesser country it will cause that country to dislike you, which in turn can lead to that country becoming protectorate of some other major power. I dont know any other effect.

Ah ok...I do recall when I was sent an ultimatum (or sent one) that it was to Austria. Denmark is a minor and therefore why that option isn't available.

Best I attack Denmark before they become a protectorate then!

HiHi

Suggest a bit of caution JD before assaulting Denmark, check to make sure there are no other Major powers with armies of 40,000+ within 4 provinces of any Danish province else Denmark will run screaming to them for protection! ... especially if that power has been subsidising them

Although as Sweden you start at a disadvantage it is well worth wooing Denmark, she has a very powerful fleet, + although it's called the 'Danish Army' it is in effect a Corps and therefore will fit into your army should you be able to get Denmark as a protectorate, invade and and you will get neither.

Good luck playing Sweden, it's an awkward bugger to get to grips with and IMO is not the best for learning the game, apart from learning how some of the Eccon works.

PS those Danish troops always go walkabouts, think they are after feeding, they will not do you any harm apart from cluttering up the landscape.

All the Best
Peter
