Seriously though, the release will not be in May, given printing time we're talking some time in late June most likely. We're pretty much aiming for that 5th anniversary.

Thanks for info Erik! [:)]

Hallo Eric,

Thanks for the target date update. Our beloved oracle Terminus had hinted that development was on track to beat the fifth aniv., but it seemed like a couple of bugs came up since then, sowing doubt, spreading consternation and tempting the weak to stray.

We can hold out indefinitely, however.

{But if "fantasy" is the topic, I have a fantasy that Matrix will keep us too busy to stray by releasing some difficult parts of the new manual. I loved the snippits we have had so far.}

Humbly Yours, Johnny

Keep in mind that any delays at the printer, shipping problems, any last minute bug issues that need additional fixing and so on can push things back. We are not set on a particular date in terms of getting the game out no matter what. The late June projection I gave above is based on the fact that it looks like everything will be ready and ship-shape by then. If it's not, we'll wait until it is, but I believe any unexpected delays to be on the order of a few weeks at maximum.

Also, there will certainly be some more preview content released before that date, we won't leave you guys without any appetizers. [8D]

Actually, I haven't indicated that we would "beat the anniversary" at all, merely repeated what Erik had already said, namely that we were (and still are) looking good for releasing around that time.

I suppose this would not be a good time to ask when you plan on putting the first patch out.........

Destined for 6/21/09. Why? Operation Barbarossa anniversary (different theatre, so what!), Father's Day, a sunday (the PH attack and Barbarossa were both on sundays). There you have it.

Erik

Thanks for the update on the anticipated release window. Just curious, but is there any chance of having a downloadable version available before a boxed version is ready? For instance, there is a hold up with the printers, but the game software itself is fine and ready to go. Would you say make the downloadable one available at that point while you wait for the boxed version to get ready?

I personally plan to buy the 'online and boxed' version, and I know many others do also. Would be nice to get it . . . well, you know . . . as soon as the softwares ready [:D]

Any plans in that regard?

Thanks in advance!

This should be a fully synchronized release, so once it's available, all versions (download and boxed) will be available at the same time.

There's definitely enough time for some romantic getaways, however, there isn't enough time to get sucked into WOW. [8D] Seriously though, the release will not be in May, given printing time we're talking some time in late June most likely. We're pretty much aiming for that 5th anniversary.

True story, one of our projects years ago was delayed for three months because the testing lead got completely addicted to WOW and didn't tell anyone, just stopped getting his work done while everyone was trying to work around his effective disappearance. Personally, WOW does not really grab me but I know it has a siren's call for some.

Don't heed false prophets when AE is around the corner. [:-] [:D]
Thanks for the reply Erik............will do romance now........as will have no time for that kind of thing soon........I would also say.....don't feel you HAVE to wait to hit the WitP anniversary..............if it is ready before......

I have been around since UV so it is all good and the 10 day free trial is fine to do some hack and slash stuff. WOW will not create a deviation for most of us fanatics but it is a fun diversion while we wait the next five weeks or so.

However, if nature calls during turn resolution, AE has a cntl-p. It means pause, not control-pee.

Bah! Late June? That's when MWiF is coming out, too.

Not only that, but I have been stuck in WoW since January '05! Now I'll have to clone myself!

Erik,

I promise not to hold it against you if the download version is available before the boxed version. [:D]
