Double check your experience levels before your next attack. If any of your troops are below 50, then their AV is less than 100% (I think it is only 50%, but don't hold me to it).

This is beginning to feel a little like the twilight zone. My troops continue to hold out in Malaya:

1. The Aussies and Malay are trapped against the sea and haven't surrendered yet. They are fully fighting 4 Inf Div and hanging on by their fingernails. Worst attack to date is a 21-1 that yielded no surrenders.

2. Johore Bhura holds out and even gets somewhat tougher as Forts climb over 7. There isn't much there but it is putting up a stellar fight.

Think I can plan on holding Singapore through the original surrender date. Considering the weight of the attack this is a minor miracle.


Burma continues to look better and better. My Fighters are now fully rested and flying CAP and/or Escort Duty. There are 5 Squadrons of P-40 and 5 Squadrons of Hurricanes stationed at Port Blair, Rangoon, Meiktila, and Mandalay. Am rotating Infantry Brigades from Moulmein to Rangoon to fill out. Each unit sits in Rangoon about 10 days and then returns to the lines.

great preformance over manila, john. but your opponent seems to be a newbie. he knows that you have P-40 there and still comes with his too weak oscars as escort and risk his elite IJA pilots this way?

a smart opponent would bring some zero daitais to aparri and start a sweep with 60 A6M2 to clear the skies over manila once and forever. its a good thing for you that he isnt smart enough to do that.[;)]

I've expected Zeros to appear for a while; however, I have beat-up some of the Daitai at the start of the conflict and they haven't been seen since. Japanese Naval Fighters have been lacking in the last 2-3 weeks and it concerns me that they will appear sometime soon in large numbers.

My opponent may not have a lot of experience but neither do I on this side of the fence. I've truly enjoyed the fight because I keep discovering all sorts of things about the Allied side of the war. It has been interesting to play this out.

If your not going to use the BF at Cagayan to allow your planes to fly to Australia, then send your AK/AP to pick it up. You don't have many construction enginners on Luzon to start with and another 30 in Aviation Support is always welcomed.

I have now lifted everything in the Central Philippines to Legaspi and points north. The Japanese do not have much in Mindanao so I have little to worry about there. There are 2 Inf Div, a Constab unit, and a pair of Base Force (I think). I might lift an Inf Div and Base Force off and move it to Luzon. I am trying to run the blockade with a a couple of AKs moving from Darwin and Soerabaja.

Am looking at raising the stakes. The AVG is tan, rested, and ready for action again. I transfer a Squadron from Rangoon to Manila to bolster CAP. To truly shock the Japanese, I move the remaining 2 Squadrons of AVG to Lucknow and then they will move on to either Clark or Manila. The addition of 75 Fighters will be a shock to say the least. I am also moving 2 Squadrons of Chinese Bombers to Clark. My hope is to nail Aparri with a Sweep and bomber strike damaging a number of Japanese planes on the ground.

The Tanks are at Tuguegarao with the Infantry about a day behind. I'll wait until all four at present and then send them north to attack Aparri.

Committing the AVG to PI.  Hows the Air battles over Burma/Malaya as a result?  RAF holding its own?

There have been NO ATTACKS into Burma whatsoever.  I have two Squadrons of P-40s and 5 Squadrons of Hurricanes escorting bombers hitting the Japanese at Moulmein.  This lack of activity is providing me the chance to do this for a couple of days and then I will move them back to their more logical place.

Wanted to quickly chime in here as John will not be continuing this. Got a chance to read most of this and i have to say although i am not technically a Newbie[:D] I do not have experience playing against players like John and I bit off more games than I should have. I was suffering a severe shortage of Zero's so i couldn't commit where I wanted. Have learned from this game for sure and when  AE comes out I hope to perform better[&o]

John is very experienced, Miller41, and you had the disadvantage of playing against him with you as the Japs, by far the most difficult of the two sides to play.

I also played John III as a newb (or relative newb), but I had the advantage of playing the Allied side.  Therefore, time was on my side.  I could "live and learn."  A Jap player cannot do that.

You've shown good sportsmanship, a good attitude, and the "I'm gonna learn from this" resolve that will stand you in good sted in future games.
