Aviation Support

Post by hummermole »

How do you increase aviation support at an airfield. I am playing as Japan in the Solomons scenario and want to increase the aviation support on Gili Gili and Lunga. Do I need to transport in Base Forces?

Thanks, guys.

basically, yes. To increase Avsupport value, you bring in more LCU's that contain Aviation support points. Up to 250. (you can bring in more but the "effect" caps out at 250 points)

Roger, Nik.  LCUs with aviation support units - would that be the Chutai LCUs?

Hummermole,
Get some HK6L-2's (or other transports) to fly in some more aviation support, and it is not just base forces that have aviation support, but of course I haven't seen the Solomons scenario for some time.

I find that almost always the first thing that is transported is the aviation support ... air transports they are undervalued by a lot of players (including myself until recently), now I'm a convert - use them to your advantage getting behind the enemy and opening up new avenues of attack.

AV support are contained largely in ENG type LCU's. (usually base forces....for example)

AE will contain Av support in more diverse formations. Mostly "ENG" type but also a few air HQ types.

Fly in some AV support troops so you'll be able to relocate some fighters for air cover of your transports. Recommend using some fast transports if you have them to spare.

Aviation Rgt consist of Av support and general support and you can fly the whole unit in. Base forces on the other hand contain heavy guns and/or vehicle that cannot be flown in so would need to be shipped at a later date.
