Taking a break from trying to figure out my next move, I've been working too much and sleeping too little lately[>:]
Nemo continues to switch targets and hit and Chinese HI he can reach, I have very limited numbers of fighters available due to out deal over factory bombing in Japan and my need to base fighters there anyway.
[*]Peking - 2 raids of 100+ LB hit my HI, causing small HI numbers on the combat report, but as always this is inflated on the map.
[*] Nemo continues to hit Tarakan, is this his training base now ?
[*] Makassar (Celebes), gets a hit from Angels based on his new toe-hold on Borneo, Transports are destroyed on ground, my bad for forgetting to move them.
[*]I keep Cagayan and Taytay suppressed for another turn.
Lastly I tried to sneak my SCTF closer to Ponape, the weather was thunderstorms everywhere and I was spotted and Allied planes still flew, according to Nemo in much smaller numbers than they should have. My limited LRCAP from KB stationed West a few hexes did little to make a difference and BB Haruna got hit by some 500kg bombs. Nemo also complained that the hits from the Pe-2's were 500Kg bombs - I'm annoyed they could find and hit me at all! Haruna ? She's sustained almost no damage.
Nemo will have to wait for my next turn as I need some R&R.

RE: Action Stations!
You have about one month until the Corsairs come out in significant numbers, so use your advantage with the Tojo to the max. Anything that gets him to have losses in Wildcat pilots is a good thing to minimize the Corsairs going into squadrons with experience in the 70s or higher.

Yeah Michael,
I had hoped that Nemo might have sent his Wildcats last turn from Ponape, I think they might have got slaughtered, and there would have been no need for this gambit. But If I threaten Kwajalein, then he will probably have to respond... I'm not looking for a airfield attack, just strikes inbound on KB. I have about 90+ Tojo's and 100+ Zekes on KB, plus with all the CLAA's, my AA strength is formidable.
Screen shot ... (yes I realise I should be splitting this up, but at present I don't want to - and the 2 slow BB's will have to go...)
Tracker note to self: Getting a little confused with aircraft on CV's, and will try to make something better for organising this.

4 ships with system damage at 10 or greater is going to raise your DL (detection level) so Nemo will more easily know you are coming.

RE: Action Stations!
Nemo really blitzed you in the central pacific didn't he[X(]. I am going to look at my defenses out that way in my game using this mod. It seems the allies can move much more quickly to the offensive than I thought.
You have the ability to arouse various emotions in me: please select carefully.

Slower day, Ponape and Eniwetok are closed for action as far as I can tell. Ulithi has more units so large numbers of transports are flying in troops, my Para's shocked and did very little damage, A div is on the way to either destroy or be destroyed...
[*]Nanking & Peking is hit again, I've got basically Claudes flying here, they did little to dissuade the Allied LB... more HI damaged, never to be repaired.
[*]Angels using huge amounts of supplies on Saipan, about 3K per mission.
[*]Attack on Jolo out of the blue...nasty for both.
New screen shot I'm working on after the previous post about CV airgroups (obviously not finished) -- will include mission, fat and % too ...

Nemo continues to destroy at will:-
[*] Hankow/Wuhan got hit only 3 times by 50 LB.
[*] Pucheng, Tarakan & Makassar get hit by Allied LB, all airfields are closed.
[*] Wake Is. is suppressed again, wonder why he is doing this... a move North ?
In response:
[*]Taytay is closed by 150 Japanese LB.
[*]Eniwetok and Ponape are kept close with Angels and Betty's.
Nemo is asking whether I'm going into the Kwajalein ring of fire, I've not made up my mind yet,(I was going to) but will have to wait for a few more supplies before I decide to go... I have a month before Corsairs will be standard issue for his CV's and that is the rally cry.
Finished the TF screen airgroups ...

RE: Action Stations!
Hi n01487477,
Are there auto upgrades in this mod? Will your Oscar factories convert to Oscar-II in January of 1943? The Oscar-I has a Nakajima engine but the Oscar-II comes out with a Hitachi engine so I was wondering how this works if they do auto upgrade...
Regards,
BJ

RE: Action Stations!
BJ,
yeah there are auto upgrades in this mod, much less than Stock or BB1.5 etc. This was designed to cause more problems for the Japanese player as this is a strong economic mod. Hence why I'm playing it.
While I'm not sure the specifics of what you want, this is what happens.
Oscar I factories indeed do upgrade to Oscar II's in Jan '43 (I got them 2.5 months early), this upgrade takes a few days to a week or so depending on Supplies at base and random elements. There is no damage associated with this conversion.
The Nakajima engines required for the production of Oscar I, are therefore no longer needed and as soon as Oscar II's start coming off the production line, Hitachi engines are utilised.
The process is seamless and you need never worry about it except to logistically have geared up the Hitachi plants to cover the extra production required.
I know in CHS, that they have advanced engines, which are set to specific times, I thnk this was a design error, cause it negates R&D of the frames, as you can't produce the planes anyway. There is no such thing in this mod.
Player beware though, this mod is not a cakewalk, esp for the Japanese. Production requirements are high and the economic start position is very weak.

I am looking over the logistics and economics from the side of Japan too. They don't look too bad - from the outside looking in - lol. Have you had a chance to use the Ki-45 KAIa Nick in combat yet?
RE: Action Stations!
Well if you say the economics aren't too bad, then you should be in for a bit of a shock...
You need about 17~19 K HI to produce everything you want, you start with about 12K, the large LCU's are expensive, the 6 engine LB are expensive, all the CV's and upgrade paths are expensive... including start up airframes, having said that I have done most of what I need for about 15.5 K. But I'm over the crest of the hill and falling fast!
Ki-45 KAIa Nick has seen a bit of service and it is better than stock, but still have a look at what you need to produce them in a short time,(the upgrade is quick & the airgroups are bunched) it is a big supply sump, for less than return IMO.
Cheers

Nemo anticipates my move on Ambonia and sets a snare ... damn! I moved about 80 Angels from Saipan to Menado, I thought this might negate him seeing my move as both bases are fairly dark red. I'm telegraphing my punches and it's time for some R&R for these pilots. Most of the Angels turn back, but the Zero's take a pounding, they are outmatched these days, even with good pilots.

Michael,
If I had the troops, they'd be there ... I don't, I'm open ... it'll collapse into another version of Hades. It can't be helped, my ground troops are hamburger meat, chewed up and spat out, esp. from Thailand, Java and anywhere I've been made to retreat day after day and bombed by 200+ bombers into rubble. I can't defend it all, cause if I do I'll defend nothing. I've been retreating, falling back displacing, whatever you want to call it for some time, this new front has opened a can of worms ~ I hope KB can go fishing sometime, but Nemo really doesn't need CV's to make the Pacific a hop-step-jump to downtown Tokyo.
Happy for you to look at the file anytime or anyone else for that matter (better check with Nemo this is ok - but I'm sure he won't mind) [;)]

Nemo is making a move on either Jolo or Batao or maybe Tarakan, but this would be a long shot. Even Sandakan is a possibility, but I'm only concerned with Jolo. Pe-2's have been hitting the airfield for a few days from Jesselton, and now there is a force of AP's and some surface ships.
1,2&3 are separate SCTF's vectored into the area, OscarII's will fly long and high Cap, smaller airfields have been utilised to maximize flight potential in rainy weather and other cap has been place, this should also minimise Nemo taking out all my airfields.
4. CV Musashi is also in the area, and my large CV force near Vigan, will head toward Lucena.
In the South Pacific, the Allied CV's are not correctly spotted, but their planes attack the Islands...
