If you pay PP's its fine just make sure you pay the PP's - I bought out those 6 Divs cost me most of my starting PP's as did the PM garrison

Pretty much every PP I have has went to those two locations

Each of the Chinese DIvs when fully rested has combat power of about 80 - 100 at start they are about 40 - 50 average

RE: Andy v the AI / building a larger base. Based on AAR examples

Post by Walloc »

Wanted to see if there was more to learn from the PH attack in Andy Mac's AAR in regards to what i described Tree's AAR thread.
tm.asp?m=2123238&mpage=2

Again i stress i know both of these examples are out of the ordinary, but in an efford to find out out why they are, i tried to look at the data.

Data from 3rd post in thread on AAR on the initial PH strike only.
75 Vals+27 Kates bombing = 102 bombers, 95 hits = 93.1% hits, 35 different ships hit.
57 Kates torpedoing 51 hits = 89.5% hits, 23 different ships hit.
3 vals and 5 kates destroyed again no way of knowing it its post or pre release of weapons.

Note that here too i assume torpedos have a 10% dude rate which would be around 5/6 not taken into account statistical uncertainty. Possibly making it near 100% hit rate.

The figurs are similar to the ones found in Tree's AAR.

What can u draw from that. Not necesarrily a whole lot more than what i reasoned in my post in the other thread. Only that perfect raids are possible.
Since i havent data from any other all the other attacks the AE team member and Erik R made and obviously I cant test it my self. The ability to generalize from this is limited.
Do u in the raids with 0 BB sunk have near 100% hit rates too, just no sinks. I dont know. Or are hit rates less. I ofc have no idea.

On top of that if u accept near 100% hit rates in PH attacks does that mean that overall damage done in PH attacks are broken. No, it might even it self out over a number of samples with less sinkings even with 100% rates. As there are some evidence to suggest in the lesser number of BBs reportedly sunk in test cases. Could tho be that the rest of the fleet is sunk while only few BBs are and if so is that desireble. Again no data so that is pure speculation. Only the AE team can tell. It could very well be that over all its balanced.

What IMHO u can get a pattern of it those that perfect raids seemingly lacking any friction are possible and the question is then, is that desireble or not.

Kind regards,

Rasmus

Please see my reply in the other thread, there's no need to post this analysis twice. As you said, all it really tells you is that these strikes went well and that the Japanese with surprise are quite effective. Based on my testing, there are also plenty of low end results. Analyzing two high end results will give you fairly high end data.

With the Jap AI making a major move for PM in Jan 42 - I wouldn't be sweating those midget subs!!!

Andy, is a move on PM this early likely to be a normal event or just one of a bunch of options you have given the AI? Talk about being caught with your pants down had you not spent those PPs to get forces up there...

This may or may not form part of the initial release AI script - I want to keep you all guessing which variant will be in the release AI as I have 4 or 5 variants !!!

PM is an important AI objective in PBEM PM is a high priority target otherwise allied Marauders and Mitchells  make a mess of SWPAC - despite all the changes we have made an operating PM remains and will remain a major PITA for the other side if you control it.

When we scripted the AI it was less what did it do but rather what would I do if I was playing.

It was done deliberately to try and give you the player the best possible game.

The AI will try to follow the broad sweep of history but on some occasions will step outside of it to try things slightly different if it makes sense.

Telling the AI to invade all of India or All of Australia or the West Coast is possible but its a pointless game as the AI will run out of resources trying it and be defeated in 43 if not 42.

UNLESS you add major ahisotric made up forces (waaaay in excess of Scen 2) the AI would lose the war even if it succeeded in taking these objectives.

Would be cool if the different alternative scripts were randomly chosen with each new game!

Maybe it's possible for someone to code sort of "WitPAELoader", that will do just that before starting a game.

It might be possible post release not sure.

If AI data is embedded into scenario data, it can be easily solved by loading up random scenario version with differing AI scripts.

Like: One has Scen in certain slot. External program replaces the scenario in slot randomly by one of 4 (or 10) similar scenarios with differing AI scripts.
