Saving a DCG in the middle of the campaign set-up mode

Post by sb81848889 »

Does anyone know how I can continue setting up my forces after saving a DCG during the campaign setup mode.

I am playing a corps size DCG and it takes several hours to set up my forces, so I had to save the game in the middle of setting up, but when I returned to it the game will not let me move anymore of my troops.

All I can do is hit the end turn button to begin the battle, but my forces are not where I want them.

Is there anything I can do?

Thanks

I believe you can rename your campaign file (it ends with a .ccd extension), but give it a .scn extension.
Then you can edit to your heart's content in the scenario editor. Save, and rename back to the original...

Doesn't this mean you can edit the order of battle for it aswell?

How many tiger battalions is considered "cheating"?

I would say a max of 1 Tiger Battalion.Remember that there weren't that many tigers around.Even in HPS Panzer Campaigns, like on Minsk '44, you only get maybe 1 or 2 Tiger Battalions to cover the entire Campaign map, so you basicly have to decide where its needed most.

It's alright, I was joking...

Mostly.

*edits*

Actually, on that note, if you do this, you kind of have free reign to stick whatever units you want onto your OOB...

Do they stay there for the rest of the campaign?

I have to admit, I'm sorely tempted to stick a load of bizzarre and hilarious units onto my OOB just because I say them once and decided I had to have a few...

Trying one of the MCS order of battles for a campaign should provide a lot of flavour throughout the length of a campaign.

I haven't built any SS units yet, but they will be available with the 1.05 UPDATE coming out next year.

Take a look at the Campaign01.oob file in a text editor to see what you will have for support and upgrades (most of the upgrades you will find at the bottom of the Battalion01.oob file as the upgrades are company level.

Do I need to remember all these numbers if I'm using the edit OOB function in the main game?

Unfortunately, you cannot edit a campaign OOB in the org editor.

They have to be built using a text editor and a clear understanding of the organizations, the start and end dates are essential.

Otherwise the campaign will most likely crash.

Something like that, yes!

There is an excellent document put together by simovitch entitled "Creating and Modifying a DCG.pdf". You will find it in your MANUALS folder of the JTCS install.

I would highly recommend giving it a read before proceeding with edits.

Just took both peices of advice. I've managed to save a corp level game(which I'm addicted to[8|]) at the deployment stage, which is great, I might even stick in an AAR about it if I can sort stuff out on my crap-top.

Also, just tried a tiny bit of editing, it's a long way from finished, but what I would like to try is a late forty-four super division with all the stuffI've always thought was hilariously cool.

Historically accurate?

NO.

Hilariously fun?

YES.
