GF unit wants to see Big Blue fly. She's pretty much ready but has to be certified first. To do this, per one volunteer there, the entire plane must be taken apart and every.....i mean every part examined and passed for inspection. Due to the recession, thats on hold for the moment. [:(]

Great photos Nikademus! So there will be Oscar? btw I also think that Dora's camouflage scheme is a strange one. I've never seen any other 190s painted like that, looks more like field impromptu ala IJA.
It didn't look that strange to me.....hmm....now i'm almost wishing i'd picked up that book. [:D] The plane has a very very long history.

Place in history: The Avro Lancaster was the most successful British bomber aircraft of WWII. The four-engined aircraft was first flown in 1941 and was characterized by its twin-finned tail and large "glasshouse" canopy. It entered service in 1942 with 44 squadron of the RAF in 1942. Operating mostly at night, they delivered 608,612 tons of bombs in 156,000 sorties against occupied Europe. For its time, the aircraft was fitted with advanced communications, navigation and radar systems. In April 1945, RAF Lancasters took part in Operation Manna to bring food to the starving peoples of occupied Holland. After the war, the Lancaster and a civilian version, the Lancastrian, were used in the Berlin Airlift.
This aircraft: Avro Lancaster TW911 was built as a B. Mk I (FE) to serve with the RAF's Tiger Force in the Far East, but it was completed too late to see operational service. The aircraft was converted for use as a flying test bed for the Armstrong Siddeley Python engine. The aircraft carried out extensive test flying before it was retired to Southend Aircraft Museum, UK in 1968.

The famous "Yellow 10", the last of her kind.
I wonder if that's just on loan from the Museum of Flight of whether Paul Allen bought it?
It used t belong to the Champlain Fighter Museum and the MoF bought that entire collection about 8 years ago. I saw it in Arizona when it belonged to the Champlain FM.
I need to get up to that museum in Everett. I also want to get to the guys in Everett who are building brand new Me-262s.

Pretty sure he owns it now. edit. GF verified (she talked to a volunteer extensively while i ran around like an idiot on cafeene snapping photos) Allen owns everything in that hanger.
