Situation Briefing for Saturday 10th January 1942 (also 9th January)
PACIFIC AREA
Early yesterday morning an ASW patrol force off Dutch Harbor was attacked by an Enemy submarine, the patrol ship Charleston was badly damaged by an enemy torpedo in this attack. The Charleston has been brought safely into Dutch Harbor, and is expected to be able to be repaired. The Japanese submarine was not located and engaged in this attack, and is thought to be still in the area.
Also yesterday morning another Enemy submarine was located south of Pearl Harbor and attacked by a force patrolling the area. It is thought that this submarine was badly damaged in this attack as fuel and debris where found in the area, it is also suspected that a submarine contact in the same area in the afternoon was the same submarine.
NORTHERN AUSTRALIA
IJNAF air raids on Darwin docks for the last two days have caused casualties, and damage to fuel and supply dumps. Allied fighters have had to be withdrawn from Darwin as they were facing complete annihilation by the IJNAF fighters escorting the raids on the town.
In the early hours of this morning the USN patrol cutter Napa struck a mine at the entrance to Darwin Harbor, but managed to safely limp into harbor. It is suspected that this mine was laid by an enemy submarine during the night, as this area was swept for mines yesterday.
CELEBES
The Dutch defenders managed to hold off an enemy attack at Manado today, and are confident that they can do the same tomorrow. But unfortunately the port of Tomini further to the west was occupied by the Japanese, which effectively isolates Manado from the rest of the Dutch forces in the area.
PHILIPPINES
Tacloban in the southern Philippines fell to the Japanese this day, the enemy naval infantry backed by a Destroyer bombardment proving too much for defenders. Meanwhile the defenders at Cagayan continue to defy an enemy force of over 20,000men, despite repeated air raids on their positions.
Allied positions and supply dumps continue to be pounded from the air on the Bataan Peninsula, with heavy raids by both the IJNAF from Formosa, and the IJAAF from Manila. The Japanese ground forces have still not closed-up on the Allied defenses, and seem content to let their air forces do the softening-up.
CHINA
USAAF B-17 Fortresses raided the airfield at Hankow yesterday, but unfortunately cloud cover interfered with the bomb aiming, and later photo reconnaissance flights ( so damage if any is not known).
The Japanese have launched heavy air raids in support of their ground operations around Wuchow for the last forty-eight hours. The Enemy is also using their heavy artillery Brigade to shell the City in preparation for a renewed assault, expected tomorrow.
MALAYA/ BURMA
Heavy air raids continue on Singapore for the last two days by both the IJAAF, and IJNAF, with the loss of 9 medium bombers to the Japanese. These raids are targeting the airfields, and port area, with a number of supply warehouses being destroyed.
Also air raids on Moulmein in last forty-eight hours, targeting the airfield. On the ground an enemy ground force edified as an Infantry division is approaching Moulmein from the south along the coastal road, and is expected to arrive next week.

Situation Briefing for Thursday 13th January 1942 (inclusive 11th, and 12th January)
PACIFIC AREA
In the early hours of this morning an Enemy Submarine took a shot at a large Freighter in convoy, about six hundred miles south west of Los Angeles, but the torpedo missed. Then at sun-up an enemy Glen scout plane was spotted shadowing the convoy. Also later in the day some Destroyers escorting the convoy attacked a submarine contact, but it is not known if any damage was inflected.
NORTHERN AUSTRALIA
The USN patrol ship Napa sunk in Darwin Harbor three days ago after striking an enemy mine while entering the harbor the day before, and the harbor is still considered mined as the Minesweepers had to leave Darwin.
Darwin has been subjected to regular IJNAF medium bomber raids escorted by Zero from Amboina for the last three days, these raids have mainly targeted the airfield, but some have hit the port supply dumps.
Darwin has been attacked by the Enemy’s carrier striking force (KB) for the last two days, and the Port and Airfields are now thoroughly wrecked. All aircraft at Darwin are now destroyed, or unserviceable, but luckily there was some warning, and most shipping managed to leave the area.
The Carrier raid on Darwin only managed to catch and sink 2 cargo vessels still unloading at the docks. But the destruction and casualties are so great that it will be sometime before Darwin can be considered an operational base again.
It is all so reported that the enemy carrier fleet has raided the Dutch base of Lautem to the north of Darwin, and it is reported that the port and airfield have also been wrecked there also.

PHILIPPINES
The Japanese started landing their 2nd Infantry Division at Cagayan early yesterday to reinforce the Naval Troops already there, and the base was subjected to a IJAAF Dive-bomber attack in the afternoon. The Enemy renewed their attack this day at Cagayan, but the Allied defenders managed to hold this new attack, reportedly inflecting heavy causalities on the newly arrived enemy 2nd division.
It is reported that the Allied positions on the Bataan Peninsula are been subjected to heavy and repeated air raids from both the Manila area, and Formosa. The enemy ground forces have still not assaulted the Peninsula, and they are thought to be still reorganizing their forces after the battles around Clarke Field.
CHINA
In southern China the Enemy are moving on Nanning, and supporting this with air raids on the City from their airfields at Hanoi and Haiphong. They are besieging the southern City of Wuchow with 2 Infantry Divisions, and are bombarding the City with heavy artillery, also they are heavily bombing Wuchow with air raids launched from Canton and Hong Kong. But all the Japanese assaults against the City have been repulsed easily so far, causing the enemy heavy casualties.
The Japanese are pushing a Brigade sized force along the Hankow to Changsha rail link, and this Brigade has now been checked by a similar Chinese force. But this enemy Brigade is thought to be only a feint to divert attention away from a much larger force attacking from the direction of Nanchang.
The Japanese have pushed a large strategic force up the road link from Nanchang towards Changsha, and are now in contact with, and assaulting a similar Chinese force protecting this road. It is reported that the Japanese suffered over 7000 causalities in this area today, with the Chinese suffering somewhat less.
The IJAAF has been also attacking Yenen for the last three days, but there is still no sign of an enemy advance toward this City yet. Also the USAAF and CAF raided Canton yesterday with their heavy bombers, and it is thought that they damaged the airstrip, and destroyed a few aircraft on the ground.
MALAYA/ BURMA
Heavy air raids against Singapore by both the IJAAF, and the IJNAF, but still no move by the enemy to cross the Strait. The IJAAF has been also launching air raids on both Moulmein, and Rangoon, and is thought to be arriving at Moulmein in the next few days.
JAVA AREA
An Enemy Submarine was attacked by patrol craft off the Port of Tjilitap yesterday, and probably damaged. Early hours of this morning a submarine attacked and missed a Tanker leaving Palembang, but sadly this Tanker and another were both sunk by IJNAF Betty medium bombers off Toboal later in the day.

It had been several days since Taisa Takagi had been called upon to give a briefing. Trying to condense it to the relevant points might have proven next to imopossible had it not been for the fact it had been relatively quiet over the last several days. Once the signal was received, he began.
"Majesty, in the last 10 days little has changed in the strategic situation accross the various theatres. The enemy seems to be attempting to regroup, and as such has not actively ventured out to engage us on most fronts. The most action seems to be in Southern China and from the enemies numerous submarines."
"Chujo Homma of 14th Army reports that the Americans and Philippinos have fortified their positions at Bataan and Corrigedor. Rather than send our infantry on a suicidal charge into these defenses, he has chosen to pummel these positions with land based naval bombers from Takao. Cooperation between the Army and Navy for this operation has been unusually good, and we hope it will serve as an example for future operations."
"Taisho Terauchi reports that all operations in the Southern Area are proceeding to plan. Taisho Terauchi has temporarily halted Chujo Yamashita's advance on Singapore until such time as the enemy fotifications can be reduced by air power. The advance north into Burma continues catiously with our forces making their way toward Moulmein. To the South, our operations against Dutch and British strongholds on the island of Borneo have commenced."
"In the area around Celebes we have been proceeding on schedule. Manado and Tomini have both fallen to naval landing forces, with the surrender of some 3000 Dutch defenders. Landings have taken place on both Namlea and Tenimbar Island, and both will be in our posession within the next 24 hours. Air forces from Kido Butai and land based air assests from Amboina have successfully raided Darwin and caused major damage to the port facilities there. This should effectively prevent the Allies from using this port as a staging area for operations against our Celebes operations for quite some time."
"The South Eastern Fleet and 4th Fleet continue to plan for phase two of their operations. Both commands report that they are on schedule."
"The China situation has stalemated yet again. Our forces are successfully besieging both Nanning and Wuchow, but stiff enemy resistance along the Changsha road has stymied our push toward that city. In a bit of bad news, the 18th Infantry Brigade, which was acting as a flanking force was met by superior enemy numbers and forced to retreat toward Hankow. Taisho Hata is requesting additional air support for his operations in Southern China, the general staff is currently looking to free existing air units or form new ones to fill this request."
"Taisho Yamamoto reports a bit of bad news as well. Scout Criuser Nagara was torpedoed by an enemy submarine approximately 120 miles north of Sorong. The damage to the ship is extensive, but it is believed the ship can make safe harbor under its own power. The enemy submarine was located and attacked by Nagara's escorts, and an oil slick in the area indicates it was damaged or possibly sunk in the action. The enemy has withdrawn most of their sea borne assets, and the only other notable action was a surface action that pitted two of our cruisers against a three merchant ships. Two of the merchant ships were sunk, but the third escaped in the darkness and fog of early morning."

Situation Briefing for Friday 16th January 1942 (inclusive 14th, and 15th January)
PACIFIC AREA
The ASW group of old destroyers operating on the West Coast of the US has struck again. In the early hours of this morning the ASW group detected, and heavily depth-charge an enemy submarine about 200 hundred miles southwest of San Francisco. The old destroyers detected what is thought to be the same submarine again in the afternoon, and it is probable that this second attack sunk the Japanese submarine.
NORTHEAST NEW GUINEA
Japanese forces successfully occupied Madang on the northeast coast of New Guinea yesterday. The RAAF launched two raids on the Enemy Shipping supporting the Madang landing, one in the morning, and another in the afternoon. Unfortunately no hits were obtained in these raids, but it is reported that all the Hudson bombers returned safely.
NORTHERN AUSTRALIA
IJNAF medium bombers with Zero escort have raided Darwin for the last two days, these raids are been launched from Amboina, and are focusing on the airfield. It is reported this morning that the Japanese commenced landing on Tenimbar Island overnight.

The good news today is that this morning S-36 reported that it had torpedoed a Japanese Light Cruiser south of Weda overnight.

Cagayan is still holding out despite being attacked by an enemy reinforced Division, and being pounded by IJAAF dive bombers on a regular basis. The Allied positions on the Bataan Peninsula are also being continually raided by enemy aircraft, with an enemy light carrier also joining the Japanese air-assault, but there is still no ground attack.

The Japanese are now concentrating the air, and ground units in three main operations. Their main effort is on the approaches to Changsha, with a main force of five divisions plus advancing along the Nanchang to Changsha road from the east, and a smaller Brigade force advancing along the Hanhow to Changsha rail line from the northeast. It is reported today that both these enemy advances have been stopped, and heavy causalities have been inflicted on the Japanese.
The Enemy is also conducting two assaults on southern Cities, at Nanning, and Wuchow. Both Cities are reported to be repulsing the Japanese causing him heavy losses, despite the enemy being well supported by heavy artillery and air raids.

Sunday 18th January, 1942
Taisa Takagi was again called for the morning briefing...
"Majesty, I will begin with the status report on several of your ships that have been damaged by enemy forces. The scout cruiser Nagara is now only 60 miles from it's home port and should arrive there by morning. The bad news is that Nagara suffered additional flooding damage during transit and is now in a very precarious position. Once Nagara arrives at its home pier, all wounded and non-essential personnel will be transfered ashore while repair crews begin to pump out the seawater secure the watertight bulkheads. In the Southern Area of operations, one of our transports was torpedoed by an enemy submarine that was subsequently driven off by its escorts. The ship is severely crippled and Taisho Yamamoto has suggested that we scuttle this ship as repairs will be costly and cannot be garraunteed to return the ship to operational status. In a final bit of bad news, the captain of submarine I-15 sent a message this morning that his ship came under heavy destroyer attack and was too crippled to return home. To prevent capture, the crew of I-15 had set its scuttling charges and will go down with their ship."
"In the Philippines, another assault on Cagayan has been repulsed. It does appear that the enemy is beginning to weaken however, and Chujo Homma and Taisho Yamamoto have divised an operation that will quickly break the enemy's will to resist. To the north on Luzon, our air power continues to pummel positions at Bataan and Corregidor."
"Southeast Fleet operations continue on schedule. In the Celebes area, Namlea and Tenimbar Island have been secured. Darwin appears to be completely shut down as the Allies must contend with daily air raids from our forces on Amboina. It also appears that the enemy have withdrawn their remaining naval and air forces from Kendari, almost as if they have fore knowledge of our operations. I must advise his Majesty of the possibility that the enemy broken our communications code, despite the disagreement of the general staff..."

The scout cruiser Nagara is now only 60 miles from it's home port and should arrive there by morning. The bad news is that Nagara suffered additional flooding damage during transit and is now in a very precarious position. Once Nagara arrives at its home pier, all wounded and non-essential personnel will be transfered ashore while repair crews begin to pump out the seawater secure the watertight bulkheads. In the Southern Area of operations, one of our transports was torpedoed by an enemy submarine that was subsequently driven off by its escorts. The ship is severely crippled and Taisho Yamamoto has suggested that we scuttle this ship as repairs will be costly and cannot be garraunteed to return the ship to operational status. In a final bit of bad news, the captain of submarine I-15 sent a message this morning that his ship came under heavy destroyer attack and was too crippled to return home. To prevent capture, the crew of I-15 had set its scuttling charges and will go down with their ship."

It does appear that the enemy is beginning to weaken however, and Chujo Homma and Taisho Yamamoto have divised an operation that will quickly break the enemy's will to resist. Situation Briefing for Monday 19th January 1942 (inclusive 17th, and 18th January)
PACIFIC AREA
The old destroyer ASW task force operating off San Francisco has reported that it located and depth-charge another enemy submarine on the night of the seventieth. But Intel believes that this is the same submarine that the destroyers encountered on the previous night, thought to be I-15, which is now believed to have sunk on the night after the last attack.
An ASW task force operating northeast of Pearl Harbor reports that an enemy submarine launched a torpedo on one of their vessels the night before last, it is reported that the torpedo missed its target. The report goes on to state that the task force successfully located, and attack the enemy submarine, which is believed to be heavily damaged at the least.
Skipjack is reporting that she launched a torpedo attack on a large enemy freighter southwest of Truk overnight, but that the torpedo malfunctioned and did not explode on hitting the Japanese vessel. Skipjack’s reported that she was then attacked by at least two enemy escorts, and was severely depth-charge for a number of hours. This enemy attack has caused some damage to Skipjack, and she has been ordered to return to base.
NORTHERN AUSTRALIA
The enemy have launched two bombing raids on Darwin’s airbase in the last three days, these raid are originating from Amboina. The raids on Darwin consist of Betty naval bombers escorted by Zeros fighters, and are greatly hindering the repair of the badly damaged airfield, and buildings. It is has reported that the Japanese have occupied Tenimbar Island to the north of Darwin, and that the enemy has also occupied Babo in Northern New Guiney in the last three days.
PHILLIPINES
The port of Cagayan has been heavily assaulted by the enemy ground forces for the last thirty-six hours, these attacks have so far proved unable to dislodge the Allied defenders. The Japanese are now deploying over thirty-five thousand men against the seven thousand defenders at Cagayan, and are believed to have suffered over twelve hundred casualties in the past three days. The enemy has been using heavy artillery and air support in their assault on Cagayan, and their main Carrier Striking Force even launched a full raid on the defenders yesterday morning.
The enemy’s ground forces have now closed-up on the defensive positions on the Bataan Peninsula, and begun an artillery barrage today, which can only be in preparation for an all-out assault. The Allied positions on the Peninsula have been subject to very heavy air attack for the past three days, with the enemy even deploying their heavy four-engine bombers from bases in Formosa to bomb the Allied positions.
CHINA
The good news out of China is that the USAAF B-17 Bombardment group stationed there managed to launch another successful raid, this time on the airfield at Kaifeng. The enemy Air Forces based in China has also launched a number of raids in the last three days, mainly in support of their ground operations west of Nanchang, also at Nanning, Wuchow, and Yenen. The Japanese have been viciously attacking the two Cities of Nanning and Wuchow for the past three days, and although heavily supported by artillery has made no headway against ether City.
MALAYA AND DUTCH EAST INDIES
Singapore is been heavily assaulted from the air, with at least two raids a day reported. The Japanese are reportedly landing at Brunei and Miri on the northern coast of Sarawak in the last twenty-four hours. An IJNAF raid from Kuching launch on Soerabaja yesterday was reportedly turned back by Dutch fighters. The Dutch have confirmed that the Japanese have started to land troops at their southern base at Kendari, these landings commenced in the early hours of this morning.

NORTHERN AUSTRALIA
Darwin was raided by Japanese Naval bombers and fighters base at Amboina on the twentieth, causing serious damaged to the airfield, and destroying some RAAF Hudson’s based at the field. It has been reported that the Japanese have landed at Lautern, but have not yet managed to take the Town. The Enemy has also occupied Aru Island northeast of Darwin on the twentieth, and landed troops at Timoeka in northwestern New Guiney today.
CELEBES AREA
The Enemy started his landings at Kendari in the early hours of yesterday morning, supported by a bombardment of the Dutch defensive positions, by a heavy cruiser force backed up by destroyers. The enemy’s first assault on the Dutch defenders was beaten off yesterday, but the Japanese successfully overran the defenses today with another assault again supported by naval gunfire, and a bombing raid launched from Amboina. Just to add that the Dutch are reporting a carrier raid to the west at Tarakan.

But it would appear that the Enemy has suspended his ground operations in the area for the present. Situation Briefing from Friday 23rd January to Monday 26th January
Pacific Area
A Catalina patrol reported spotting a Japanese transport in the vicinity of Baker Island on the morning of Sunday the 25th. Then in the afternoon the same patrol flying its inward leg, reported enemy troops landing on the uninhabited Island from a group of transports accompanied by some light warships. It is now assumed that the Japanese have occupied Baker Island with the intension of building a base there.
Northern Australia Area
There was an IJNAF raid on the airbase at Darwin on Sunday, with RAAF and USAAF fighters intercepting the raid. In the dogfight that resulted between the Allied fighters and the Japanese escort, 2 Allied fighters were lost for no loss to the enemy. But the distraction of the Allied fighters seems to have put the aim of the Japanese bombers off, and very little damage was done to the airfield. It is also reported that the Japanese have occupied Timoeka on the northwest coast of New Guiney.
Timor Area
IJNAF aircraft from Amboina raided Lautern in eastern Timor on Saturday morning, and the enemy continued to land extra troops after a failed assault on Friday. The enemy ground forces then launched an assault on the airfield in the late afternoon which was repulsed, as was a similar assault launched the next day. The IJNAF have raided Lautern on every day since in support of their troops, and also launched a raid on Koepang on Sunday.
Celebes Area
In the early hours of Friday morning an Anglo Dutch naval squadron under the command of the Dutch Admiral Doorman raided the anchorage at Kendari. The Allied squadron including the British battle cruiser HMS Repulse, managed to approach the port at Kendari without being spotted by enemy air patrols. In the subsequent action the Allied Squadron is confirmed to have sunk 4 Japanese destroyers, a small transport, and a stores ship, for the loss of only 1 British destroyer. The Allied ships were then able to escape the area before dawn, and the arrival of Japanese naval aircraft.
Western Borneo Area
The Japanese launched an air raid against Tarakan on Friday afternoon, by carrier aircraft apparently put ashore from their light carriers, and operating from Brunei. These carrier aircraft from Brunei have subsequently raided Tarakan on Saturday, and Monday. Then on early Sunday morning the airfield, and Dutch troop positions were subjected to a naval bombardment by a Japanese destroyer force. Later on Sunday morning the enemy began to land troops covered by another bombardment by the destroyer force. It is reported that the enemy continued to unload a strong force till today, which then assaulted, and took the town and airfield.
Philippines
The Allied position at Cagayan continues to hold out against a vastly superior Enemy force, and beat off Japanese assaults on Friday, Sunday, and Monday. These brave defenders have caused the Japanese very heavy causalities in his latest attacks, and this is despite the enemy having air and naval support.
The Allied positions have been pounded all day from air raids by both the IJAAF, and the IJNAF for the past four days with no letup. The Japanese have also bought up very strong artillery support, which they are now continuously hammering away at the Allied positions, in an attempt to soften them up for the expected infantry assault.
China
Because heavy losses from Enemy artillery and air raids, it was decided by the Chinese high command to evacuate the City of Wuchow. But when the Chinese troops started their orderly withdrawal from the City on Saturday, the City was attacked unexpectedly by the Japanese forcing them to retreat to the north.
Meanwhile the enemy has been launching air raids, and artillery barrages on the City of Nanning, and the Chinese army group west of Nanchang. Then on Sunday the Japanese launched a ground assault on the City of Nanning, which was beaten-off inflicting very heavy losses on the Enemy.
To the north at Yenen the IJAAF have been launching very heavy air raids on the Troop positions in, and around the City, causing some casualties amongst the Chinese troops. But today the Japanese light and medium bombers, along with their fighter escort were meet by some fighters from the AVG. The AVG fighters managed to shoot down 3 bombers, and 3 fighters, while also disrupting the rest of the raid.
Malaya and Burma Area
Singapore Island has been assaulted by Japanese ground forces on Friday, and again today with heavy losses reported on both sides. These assaults have supported by heavy shelling of the City, and very heavy daylight bombing raids.
There have been air raids in and around Allied troop positions in the Rangoon area. Moulmein is now reported to be occupied by the enemy fifty-fifth division, supported by a tank regiment. But no enemy movement has been reported above Moulmein as yet.
Dutch East Indies Area
The Dutch Island of Singkep south of Singapore was bombarded by an enemy cruiser force on Saturday afternoon, then again early on Sunday morning. It has now been reported that the Japanese have taken the Island today, after landing troops this morning. Just to add that the Dutch have reported that some their air force’s medium bombers struck at a group of enemy transports south of Singkep this afternoon, and that one of their bombers hit a transport.

A Catalina patrol reported spotting a Japanese transport in the vicinity of Baker Island on the morning of Sunday the 25th. Then in the afternoon the same patrol flying its inward leg, reported enemy troops landing on the uninhabited Island from a group of transports accompanied by some light warships. It is now assumed that the Japanese have occupied Baker Island with the intension of building a base there.
Northern Australia Area
There was an IJNAF raid on the airbase at Darwin on Sunday, with RAAF and USAAF fighters intercepting the raid. In the dogfight that resulted between the Allied fighters and the Japanese escort, 2 Allied fighters were lost for no loss to the enemy. But the distraction of the Allied fighters seems to have put the aim of the Japanese bombers off, and very little damage was done to the airfield. It is also reported that the Japanese have occupied Timoeka on the northwest coast of New Guiney.
Timor Area
IJNAF aircraft from Amboina raided Lautern in eastern Timor on Saturday morning, and the enemy continued to land extra troops after a failed assault on Friday. The enemy ground forces then launched an assault on the airfield in the late afternoon which was repulsed, as was a similar assault launched the next day. The IJNAF have raided Lautern on every day since in support of their troops, and also launched a raid on Koepang on Sunday.
Celebes Area
In the early hours of Friday morning an Anglo Dutch naval squadron under the command of the Dutch Admiral Doorman raided the anchorage at Kendari. The Allied squadron including the British battle cruiser HMS Repulse, managed to approach the port at Kendari without being spotted by enemy air patrols. In the subsequent action the Allied Squadron is confirmed to have sunk 4 Japanese destroyers, a small transport, and a stores ship, for the loss of only 1 British destroyer. The Allied ships were then able to escape the area before dawn, and the arrival of Japanese naval aircraft.
Western Borneo Area
The Japanese launched an air raid against Tarakan on Friday afternoon, by carrier aircraft apparently put ashore from their light carriers, and operating from Brunei. These carrier aircraft from Brunei have subsequently raided Tarakan on Saturday, and Monday. Then on early Sunday morning the airfield, and Dutch troop positions were subjected to a naval bombardment by a Japanese destroyer force. Later on Sunday morning the enemy began to land troops covered by another bombardment by the destroyer force. It is reported that the enemy continued to unload a strong force till today, which then assaulted, and took the town and airfield.
Philippines
The Allied position at Cagayan continues to hold out against a vastly superior Enemy force, and beat off Japanese assaults on Friday, Sunday, and Monday. These brave defenders have caused the Japanese very heavy causalities in his latest attacks, and this is despite the enemy having air and naval support.
The Allied positions have been pounded all day from air raids by both the IJAAF, and the IJNAF for the past four days with no letup. The Japanese have also bought up very strong artillery support, which they are now continuously hammering away at the Allied positions, in an attempt to soften them up for the expected infantry assault.
China
Because heavy losses from Enemy artillery and air raids, it was decided by the Chinese high command to evacuate the City of Wuchow. But when the Chinese troops started their orderly withdrawal from the City on Saturday, the City was attacked unexpectedly by the Japanese forcing them to retreat to the north.
Meanwhile the enemy has been launching air raids, and artillery barrages on the City of Nanning, and the Chinese army group west of Nanchang. Then on Sunday the Japanese launched a ground assault on the City of Nanning, which was beaten-off inflicting very heavy losses on the Enemy.
To the north at Yenen the IJAAF have been launching very heavy air raids on the Troop positions in, and around the City, causing some casualties amongst the Chinese troops. But today the Japanese light and medium bombers, along with their fighter escort were meet by some fighters from the AVG. The AVG fighters managed to shoot down 3 bombers, and 3 fighters, while also disrupting the rest of the raid.
Malaya and Burma Area
Singapore Island has been assaulted by Japanese ground forces on Friday, and again today with heavy losses reported on both sides. These assaults have supported by heavy shelling of the City, and very heavy daylight bombing raids.
There have been air raids in and around Allied troop positions in the Rangoon area. Moulmein is now reported to be occupied by the enemy fifty-fifth division, supported by a tank regiment. But no enemy movement has been reported above Moulmein as yet.
Dutch East Indies Area
The Dutch Island of Singkep south of Singapore was bombarded by an enemy cruiser force on Saturday afternoon, then again early on Sunday morning. It has now been reported that the Japanese have taken the Island today, after landing troops this morning. Just to add that the Dutch have reported that some their air force’s medium bombers struck at a group of enemy transports south of Singkep this afternoon, and that one of their bombers hit a transport.

Pacific Shark Attack: DivePac88 (A) vs. Shark7 (J).
I am discontinuing this AAR as Shark7, and I have agreed to restart this campaign in the AE upgrade. While we are going to continue the PBEM game until the release date of AE, it seems pointless to continue the AAR.
I must say that I find Shark7 to be an excellent opponent; his operations are always faultless, and fast moving. I have had very little opportunity to hit back at him, and any mistakes that I have made have been ruthlessly punished.
