War is a bad thing. It involves killing people and destroying countries. That said sometimes good things come from it. Certainly the acts of heroism and self-sacrifice by those involved can inspire those of us who learn of their deeds. Sometimes it can bring together parties that would not have considered an alliance if not for their common enemy. Lastly, the horrors of war will hopefully convince all those involved of the futility of pursueing another war in the future ...
