Announcement

Post by puresimmer »

I made this announcement on the Wolverine Forums today. I feel great and guilty all at the same time.

Anyway, I will now be devoting ALL my development time to moving the free version of PureSim forward.

My initial reaction to reading the news was "Wow." And that still is my reaction. Good for you, Shaun. While I was looking forward to DDSB, I'm just as happy with PureSim and the choice you've made to continue developing it.

I have noticed that you added a donation link to the front page of the game, and to the Suldog Studios site as well. I will definitely be making a donation.

Edit: Should we start using the Suldog Studios forum? Or would you rather keep the PureSim discussion here for now?

Shaun ... Everybody here in this forum has very a strong passion for this game as well as being uniquely connected in one form or another to our past-time -baseball ... You have provided us the game in its purest form as possible - and to be uniquely our own to play in any manner we choose ... It is good to see you have reach a crossroad that you know it is right and true ... and to be able to carry onward with the talents you have and the drive to band this little nation of ours to fulfill the peace and joy (if only our spouses can understand[;)]) that we all richly deserves ... DO NOT feel bad about the Wolverine project ... it shows the class you have and the ability to separate what is reality or not as well as the pure diehards of the PS07 groupie ... An excellent idea that Dave brought up regarding to donations and which forum do you prefer to do for future discussions ...

This IS the best of both worlds.

For Shaun, there's no deadlines to meet and he now has free reign to update whenever the creative urge hits.

For PureSim vets and newbies, we can continue to add mods and can rest assured that the game will not wither on the vine.

I can revisit my own "Field of Dreams" whenever I wish, because it will be open year-round, and it will periodically be given a fresh coating of magic. [;)]

WOW! Incredible news! Good luck, Shaun. From your messages this past week it certainly does seem like your enthusiasm for the game is back. I know I will be supporting your efforts as well as trying to get some of my friends hooked on the game.

Shaun,

I understand "burn-out". And I know it well.

You want to climb the mountain like you use to could, but somewhere up -- you just can't go on. I suffer from the same problem.

I beta tested (and alpha) golf games and baseball games for years and years. I worked two jobs. My regular and my computer job (which paid almost nothing). And then I hit the wall.

Now I read and try to relax. I want to continue playing PS but it is difficult because of my computer burn out.

Good luck Shaun. Family, health and real job come first -- by a LONG SHOT.

This is the best time for me for this to happen, because with my latest system crash I decided to replace my home desktop with a lap top. What that means for me is, being the techno geek that I am, that I will be playing anywhere and everywhere. Now if we could just get an option to save in the middle of the game I'll be playing in doctor's offices, traffic lights, you name it!

Being one of the new guys, I really do not know what to say beyond thanks much! I have 10 seasons in my sole association under my belt and am hopelessly devoted to the "new" Mets (fictional) players. The year is 2018 and I have a 4 time Cy Young award winner, a rookie of the year and a Triple Crown Winner to show for my efforts. I am pleased they will not be lost.

I have always been a fan of going forward since I carry far too many pre-conceived notions on existing players (what do you mean Piazza struck out! He NEVER strikes out in that situation....). I love bringing the fictional guys in and find I get just as attached to them as I do the real guys.

My son (now 8) still sits and watches me play the game. However, instead of going 'wow, he hit that ball far', he wants to know why my runner did not score on that 2 out single from second base...teach your children well, indeed.

Enough rambling. Thanks, Shaun, for all the efforts. I may be mostly silent but you have my appreciation on a job well done.
