Spotting, too easy?

Post by Frankie »

In my opionion spotting of the enemy TF´s are far too easy. I have played the C64 version of this game and if I remember right, the spotting was much more realistic in that.

Usually I spot every (well most) enemy TF´s before they strike and rarely the can perform suprise attack and vice versa.

*dam-n, modern spy satellites would be jealous if the could perform that good.

I Don't Think So

In my current PBEM games I have had both my own and enemy TFs not get spotted early, and have even had TFs move in and drop troops without getting spotted.

I also had IJN TFs appear south of GG without any early warning from my Hudsons and PBYs at PM. My B-17s and PBYs searching out of Australia didn't see them either. It was an SBD from the Carrier TF 4 hexes away that spotted them (I have had this same thing happen in different PBEM games)

I am going to check the leadership and experience of the PBYs, that may be part of the problem.

But I can't say it is "too easy".

:D In some other threads, players are complaining that not enough TF are spotted (ie : bombardment TFs, ...) - maybe it means that the game is quite accurate ?

I agree that bombardment TF´s are not spotted easily since they can attack from great distance on one turn. But what comes to other TF´s (CV´s and transports), its way too easy to spot them very early. Well, on the other hand, I gathered about 250-300 planes to Port Moresby, so its quite formidable air fleet. Its also funny, that I had ~100-130 fighters doing CAP and enemy AI waisted most of he´s planes in Moresby. It sended over and over its planes to certain death. Usually about 40-80 planes went down in one turn. Port Moresby was main part when I destroyed enemys airfleet in early stage. It had lost over 1000 planes in 5 months (scenario 17)...well lot of offtopic...
