SS Gato, hits 9
Miller floods the waters around Japan with his subs at the moment. Looks like he´s started a sub offensive as we spot half a dozen subs daily. Guess that means there are something like a dozen or more subs around. 30 DDs in 5 TFs were sent out to take care of the threat. Gato takes 9 near misses today and is probably out of action and has to return. Expected sys damage 10-20.

RE: it goes on...
Point taken. I was thinking Miller's few successes have come from his atoll assaults using the patented "search plane empowered bombardment" technique. However, when he hits an IJA division on one of those atolls it could get ugly. Still, he may think the same way I did. Perhaps a trap can be baited in the Gilberts?

The first time that the massed Kingfishers weren´t used pre bombardment were during the attack on Canton Island. And it was obvious that the bombardments did not have such an effect as if he would have used three dozen floatplanes. But the outcome was the same. After "normal" bombardments of one and a half dozen BBs there was nothing left on the atoll. All CD units and base forces were 100% knocked out and the inf units mopped up my base in no time.
I won´t really fight for anything until a line Marcus Island - Guam - Truk - Rabaul. If he comes island hopping then this will be the line I will draw and that will be strongly defended. This doesn´t mean I will just watch the Allied taking Tarawa or Kwajalein but I won´t throw in the kitchen sink like I did it at Timor for example.
One IJA division would not have been enough to stop the assault on Canton Island for example as I had 400 av from inf units at the base and another 100 from base forces. The base forces were wiped out by the BBs which left 400 from the inf units but they could do nothing. So we are more or less speaking of 2 IJA divs on an atoll to really cause trouble.

638 Tonies a month?
<censored> [X(]
have ramped up production to get results with R&D, that was the reason for having so many. Have already switched nearly 100 over to R&D of the Frank and in something like a month or so we won´t have more production capacity than 350-400 anymore. With that production capacity I plan to actually build something like 200 a month.

it´s nice to see the three base forces on Wallis Island achieve some kills from time to time... problem is I can´t pick them up even though the airfield is only 30% damaged... [:@] not with transports, not with patrols... this just sucks once again... pick up unit order doesn´t work where it should work but does work for picking up units that are 10 hexes out of range of US transports... love it...

it´s nice to see the three base forces on Wallis Island achieve some kills from time to time... problem is I can´t pick them up even though the airfield is only 30% damaged... [:@] not with transports, not with patrols... this just sucks once again... pick up unit order doesn´t work where it should work but does work for picking up units that are 10 hexes out of range of US transports... love it...

RE: it goes on...
I bet you'll carefully monitor the first deliberate attack at Kweiyang. Do your units there have any forts ? enough supply ? and enough supply in the closest bases ?

the troops there are fully supplied and fully prepped for the base. While I never got a good answer if being prepped for a base you don´t own does you any good when being on the defense in that base. All units have one or two forts, no more possible for big inf units when not owning a base. The base force there has fort level 7 though. We will have 3000 base av and a wooden hex with at least 1 fort for the units that already have been there for some time (not for the newly arriving units though). But overall the enemy should have to achieve at least a 3:1 to kick us out.
Should be quite hard to achieve that if out of supply, being in a wooden hex and facing 3000 av.

RE: it goes on...
I've been wondering ever since Castor started this game, whether we would finish AE first or he would finish the game first. I still wonder!
[:D]
Castor's game is halfway done - AE is more than halfway - but when doing a project the last 10% takes the longest!

it´s been a really fast paced game (and still is) but it nevertheless took us 8 months of real time to get nearly two years of game time done. So hopefully you will have finished AE first as it surely takes another year to finish the campaign. [:D] If it´s going all the way through...

with the Aussie div moved out into the hex South of Townsville the enemy av doesn´t look that high anymore... but I´m expecting lots of enemy LCUs being moved in with convoys. Just can´t believe he wouldn´t fight for this area... but this also would mean that his offensive capability would be smaller and that´s good news...

with the Aussie div moved out into the hex South of Townsville the enemy av doesn´t look that high anymore... but I´m expecting lots of enemy LCUs being moved in with convoys. Just can´t believe he wouldn´t fight for this area... but this also would mean that his offensive capability would be smaller and that´s good news...

RE: it goes on...

I've been wondering ever since Castor started this game, whether we would finish AE first or he would finish the game first. I still wonder!
[:D]
Castor's game is halfway done - AE is more than halfway - but when doing a project the last 10% takes the longest!
[:)]
NOOOOOO..i heard something about "nearly completed". you better release AE ASAP! or castor will invade the west coast![:D]
lol, I actually was thinking about invading the West coast, no joke! [:D] what kept me from doing it (or preparing for it) after the fall of Wyndham was the fact that the Allied would get too many LCUs too soon and so the plan died before going into detail. But would surely be fun, imagine how few enemy LCUs are there at this date...

looks like I know now why there are those British Liberators in Russia... that way he can bomb my oil sites out to ten hexes... with his ultalow level attack the enemy achieves 4 hits which means 8 oil points are destroyed, means 48 oil per day less... the more he annoys me with those attacks, the more effort I will put into killing off his troops/aircraft/bases... of course it´s not always like "the more you annoy him, the more he will give you back" because I can´t do that in the Pacific against the US forces but I definetely can do it against the Russian... there are not really a lot bases he can reach from the staging base of his Liberators and the most important are capped anyway... with all the resource sites we capture(d) in Russia it won´t be a problem at all to repair the damage to my oil sites...

flak just has no effect... a big base force, a big CD unit and two IJN base forces and flak is not existing... who said that you have to increase attack alt in Nikmod... it´s even the other way around, you can DEcrease it as I definetely achieve far better results in stock with mass employment of flak guns... with the uber durability in Nikmod flak is no issue. No issue because soon I won´t be able to mass all my flak in just a couple of bases so flak effects will be even less during the next year...
this of course isn´t valid for the Japanese as Allied flak is so mighty, you can´t attack an Allied base with more than one base force... lol lol lol

those losses are all within the leading inf division... just give me Allied artillery... I definetely understand that the Allied had far more firepower in their divisions compared to the Japanese, what I don´t understand is why an Allied 150mm gun is 5 times more effective than a Japanese 150mm gun. When I have all the Souther Area Army artillery units in one hex doing bombardments than I still don´t achieve what two US art units can do... and I can´t say that I think this is right... [&:]
