I can't believe they let anyone into the B-17; those photos of the interior are incredible.  Did the waist gunners kneel while firing their MG's?  It appears they would be too tall to use them if they stood up.

Both planes, (the B-17G and the B-24J) are fully operational and fly with passengers when they visit here and in other locations. (hard to believe but they say it costs $4000 an hour to operate them!)

Most, like myself [:(], however can't afford to cough up $400 for a flight......(and i hate to fly as it is!), so we pay $12 for a self guilded "tour"

Hopefully i didn't piss too many people off as i tried to snap as many photos as i could while slowly making my way through the planes.

On the gunners - it definately paid to be of medium to smaller stature. The 17 is far roomier for the waist gunners than on the 24..due to the port and starboard windows being more seperated. I'm sure it was done both ways.....kneeling and standing.
