At a guess, I would say a US destroyer dropping depth charges.  Possibly in practice.

I've been following this one close.  It's clearly either a DD or DE and I believe USN, but I'm not sure from this picture how one would know if it's a destroyer or escort.

I don't know of any DEs which had a 5" gun mount on the 01 level aft.
