1.76, So Far

Post by KG Erwin »

Looking good on the initial setup. For 2005, the teams all have 11-man pitching staffs. As for salaries, 5 pitchers and 6 position players max out @ $23 million/year. The minimum salary is $97,000, but this is what scrubs make. I'm using 50-man rosters.

The Yankees have the top payroll @ $191 million. They have $44 million in the treasury, which seems about right. A couple of pricey FAs would put them in bankruptcy, which also seems appropriate. The Royals rank last, with a payroll of $64.6 million.

The overall financial gaps are not realistic, BUT this was intentional, to create some sort of play balance. The gap between large-market and small-market teams is only some $20 million. Hardcore historical simmers might choose to edit the overall team treasuries.

Perhaps Shaun could consider an option for overall regional finances, such as balanced (the default level) vs realistic (which increases difficulty by reducing small-market treasuries by 25-30%). This would force teams such as my Pirates to pay closer attention to their farm system vs auctioning for expensive FAs.

The player photos on the field are too small. They look strange compared to the text they are affiliated with. They also look a little distorted from shrinking them down from their optimum size which is displayed when they are up to bat.
