Editor help

Post by Ashtar »

I was wondering if someone can share here a few words about using the editor, I mean beside the obvious...

For instance:

a) How do I send out a scenario I designed to my fellow pbem players to start a new game? Which files should
I send out and how do they load/use them?

b) Is it possible to use the editor to further edit a running game? This would be very useful to correct eventual
bugs (like disappearing corps) or to implement the beautiful "alternate dominant powers" rules (like to increase
the morale of a new dominant power).

c) I see there is the room to load different maps, but how one should create them (which is the needed format, is there
an editor tool I cannot find, is it left out for future patches... ?)

thanks

Ashtar:

ALL good questions...

1. I have not decided on how to package/export these scenarios yet. Technically, you need to copy the EIANW###.GED files along with the table### files which you should find in the DATA dir. This is obviously a little confusing today and I am hoping to refine this a bit in 1.07. The naming convention is : Your first scenario would be EIANW011.GED. The scenarios before that (i.e. EIANW001.GED) are the core scenarios that are packaged with the game and cannot be edited.

2. No today. I am looking at ways to load a game into the editor but that is a little messy right now BUT this is a goal. My immediate goal was to get the Editor working.

3. The maps need to come from us for now because the maps are not just maps BUT also a set of baseline data for nations, units, etc.

Thank you

Is it possible to get a original EiA map?
Or what other maps might be?

Since Matrix is doing a classic scenario (according to pzndgr, their unofficial spokesman) this is a MUST, without a classic map it wouldn't be a classic scenario and hence wouldn't really be Empires in Arms.

It's not complete and we still haven't gotten the official nod to do this yet BUT we are "playing" around with it a bit.
