Hi, RUPD. I haven't posted here lately but I have been catching up. As quickly as you are advancing, I think the India strategy hurt him.

India cost Gordon the inicative and I have been on the advance ever since. His Russai invasion made up for this however. If he focuses on taking Chungking he can drag the war out until late 45 and maybe 46.

CV raid managed to draw out and destroy a ton of AC in the Marianas. Once again my bombardment fleet wandered away from it's air cover and turned back after getting atttacked. They will divert to Truk on the way home.

4E bombers leveled Takao. Lack of supplies, bad weather, and low morale will prevent a follow up this turn.

I lost 2 of my top aces captured and 4 wounded however. Berg and Vincent both had great days (5+ kills each) so I doubt they will be treated well.

I didn't see anything in the OPs report to indicate that I killed any good Jap pilots.

I got some more today. I am suprised that Gordon is standing and fighting rather than pulling back to Iwo Jima.

I have an invasions fleet 3 days out but I just noticed that 1/2 of the transports failed to load. I have the deserters being loaded now but it will be a week before they join the fight. I have all my CVs in the area so even if the KB shows up I should be able to deal with it.

The minefield at Tinian (the target) is much stronger than I had expected and since I only had 4 MSWs available I am expecting heavy losses.

Despite the mine damage, you've massacred his front line squadrons - which in itself is worth it, given the amount of ships & materials you have to work with.

Keep up the good work - looking forward to the next few weeks - we'll see if he decides to reinforce (perhaps with the KB) - but you've got him over a barrel.

Some days you are the shooter and others you are the turkey. Today I was the turkey. I actaully lost more in A2A than I shot down. It turns out that my fighters are far better at fending off strikes than they are at escorting them.

Big landing at Tinian next turn. even though it is the most heavily defended of the islands I chose to land there due to it being a claer hex vs a mountain hex for Guam or Siapan. I am hoping that the minefeild has degarded over time or it is going to be costly. All of my CVs are in the area so I am ready for the KB if it shows up.

The big picture

I have identified 12 of the 15 units at Tinian and I believe that the others are sub units of the spotted ones. I should be facing 3 Mixed brigades, 5 arty units, 1 tank brigade, a base force, and 3 HQs.

Well the minefield was definitly not neglected since I hit 72 mines this turn[X(]. I already lost 2 APs, 3 AK, 2 DD, 1 LST, and 2 MSWs in the first wave of the landing. Shock attack has been ordered since I need to capture a port fast to try to save several damaged ships. I have about 100K troops arriving in the next 2 days if this attack fails.

Tinan was leveled by 4E bombers so Formosa has been shut down for a while.

We had a good old fashioned carrier battle. Despite being out numbered 3:1 the KB fought to a draw. The Shokaku sunk and the Zuiho and Zuikaku should sink. I will lose the CVE Shah. I will post a screen shot later but air losses were about 700 Jap to 300 Allied.

I expect a surface action at Tinian next turn and do not expect it to go well. I have a bombardment fleet that is low on ammo and a DD screen that is also low. I am hoping that they distract the raiders from the transports and that they damage enough of them that the CVs can finish them in the morning. Due to heavy AC losses I will not be pursuing the KB if it flees towards Iwo Jima out of a fear of a large AC group there. Better tp play it safe at this point since I get stronger every turn. No need to risk running into an ambush to sink what I can sink later.

1st assault on Tinain failed and yet more ships were sunk by mines and coastal guns. Hopefully my second wave can land next turn and start to turn the tide. AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 04/28/44
