Error 101

Post by Brockleigh »

I'm having a problem since getting a new PC with Vista.

I've tried downloading 2.29 from the Matrix site, and it installs just fine. But when I try to run the game, I get an error that says "There was an error reading your serial registration. Error 101."

Curiously, even though I select them in the install process, I'm not getting any Shortcuts on my Desktop.

I've contacted Matrix support, but the guy gets back to me every 3 days or so.

Any suggestions/comments/questions/anecdotes/cookie recipes?

Did you add the dashes (-) in your serial registration number?

Yep. It was  a cut and paste from the Matrix website.

Are there any other suggestions at all?

I'd like to help, but technical support was not something I did as a board moderator.

What did Matrix Games support tell you?  Do the support personnel have experience with Maximum Football specifically?

I'm also running into this error. I"m hoping that Matrix games gets in contact with me soon. But I did the same thing, installed, copy and pasted the registration number and tada error 101.

Well, don't hold your breath.

After David Winter left, I was the only moderator on this board, but I did have some help from community members.

A few months ago, Matrix Games took over all moderation of this board.  They believed their regular moderator duties could handle it.  Since then, there have been very few posts here by Matrix Games employees of any kind: no game support, no community involvement, no attempt to keep the game alive.

It is sad to say, but with David not publishing Maximum Football 3.0 with Matrix Games, and with no green light to provide an updated release, I believe Matrix Games is just playing out their option with Maximum Football and will only sell the game until they no longer have a supply of product.  Support has been and likely will remain minimal.

I had the same problem. Matrix Support had me download the 2.0 version and install that.  That was running fine.  I then downloaded the 2.9 release and installed that.  The game is working fine for me.
