Game cannot set resolution properly

Post by matra »

Hi,

I have just downloaded a copy of WWIIGC. Installed fine, skipped Dx9c installation because I have a Dx10.

The game runs fine but there is a HUGE problem: it cannot recognize properly the resolution of my monitor. I have a 1920x1200 laptop LCD screen. Seems that it starts in 800x600 or worse and there is no way to manually set the right resolution. The result is that the game screens appears blurry and foggy. Furthermore there is no way to play this game in a window.

I patched to 1.3 but it still does not work properly.

Any help about that ??

Regards,
Ugo.

Hi Ugo,

Can you please post a DxDiag for us? Also, please allow DirectX 9 to install, it's not interchangeable with DirectX 10, you may be missing some of the Dx 9 files if you didn't let that installation complete.

The game runs in 1024x768, but your video drivers will generally allow you to adjust how it scales to your monitor. Once we see your DxDiag we should be able to advise.

I don't understand the comment about patching to v1.3 as the full installer you download is already v1.3... ?

Hi Erik,

made some investigations. The "problem" is that this game runs ONLY in 1024x768 and on a 1920x1200 laptop screen looks ugly due to scaling.

It would be very nice if this problem will be fixed in a next patch. I guess that a LOT of people now has LCD screen with at least a 1280x1024 or better. On these screens the scaling will make the game look ugly.

Same problem with "Highway to Reich".

Ugo

I'll discuss with the developer, but you are right that the resolution is fixed right now and that is also listed in the game specs. Most video drivers allow you to set how you want games that don't run in your monitor's native resolution to scale. Have you looked in your video driver settings? I can get it to look good on my 1680x1050 with the right driver settings.

Hi Erik,

Can you offer a few pointers on how you did that for us non-techies? I also have a 1920x1200 LCD laptop screen and the game looks pretty horrible over here as well.

Thanks,

Markus

Here's how I do it in my nVidia driver, some systems/drivers have more options, others less:
