Colonial regiments

Post by JoePirulo »

I don´t know if this was answered before... If that the case, I´m sorry.

Anybody knows how does this upgrade work? I have it, but I receive no free infantry, no free militia nothing during the levy...

Playing as France, I have 30 colonies... so I guess I should receive 8 free units...

Thanks,

Max.

Actually, this works, but until the next patch comes out, the other levies are not functioning correctly.  These just show up around your country and they appear to be the regular spring levy.  So, if you're getting ANY units as France, my guess is that they're the colonial levy.  They're always very crummy low morale infantry units.

Are colonies only a source of reinforcements? The colonies, particularly the West Indies were were French regiments went to die, mostly from tropical disease. (The same holds true for the Brits.) Any regiments coming from the West Indies should be weak.
I'm curious how the war for the West Indies colonies and garrisoning need for them is modelled.

Colonial garrions are not modelled.

And I didn't say there was something wrong with their low morale, I just said that they have low morale. I am well aware why they do and think it's appropriate. I move them into corps with higher morale units and let them get combt experience to improve their morale. After a few years, they're quite respectable.
