Probelm with trading horses

Post by Franck »

Hi, this as been raised before.

It seems it is not only a problem of horses not beieng in the first 4 resources produced in a province.

In a PBEM I have Navara producing only Agriculture and Textile. This gives me +8 Golds, +6 foods,+4 horses, +2 Wool, +1 Wine, +1 Labor. So on the trade window I should get Golds, foods, horses and wool.

Unfortunetely here is what I get:
Gold, food, Wool, Wine...

I guess I can ask my trading partner to ask the trade, maybe the problem will be taken care of then...Because Horses do show for other nations if I ask them to trade with me.

I got screen shots and saves if you want. But it's a PBEM game.

Can you tell me which nation / scenario you are playing, and which province this is?  Maybe we should move this thread to the support forum.

This is with Spain 1792 scenario 23 years, highest glory at end, wellington attrition, standard combat difficulty, advance economy (obviously...).

The province is Navarra, I set the slider for agriculture to the max (in the hope of trading horses) the rest went in textile. I changed taxes to 18 (or maybe 17 on the first turn, would need to check). Did the usual things to get drafts of 4.5 moral. (ie 16 months, X years min, 40 or 41 year max).

It is confirmed by another players that he doesn't see any horses showing up for trade with me.

Eric, I am in this game with Franck. I am playing France. What is sad/weird about this is that Spain has by far the most horses on hand in the game (somewhere over 120 I believe). I would like to buy a few off of him, but none of his provinces are showing any horses available for trade.

Just a stupid newby question or clarification. Are you allowing a turn to be processed before trying to trade, so that the changes are 'viewable' by your partner...?

I have noticed this issue with Spain as well.

In our PBEM 109 game I was able to trade for some horses with Spain out of 1 province, Estramadura (pardon spelling you get the gist). All other provinces dont show horses as an option, even though in that game as well Spain has over 100 horses in reserve and is producing a bunch of horses in several provinces.

HiHi

Just checked T53 in 'Another PBEM' and this turn I have had some horses filter into the 'Trade' system, 5 between 3 provinces with Spain’s Stockpile of said Neddys standing at 1206! Spice is a similar story, 4 Spice between 2 provinces with the stuff piled up at 502. NB I have both Horses & Spice cleared for Export in the PBEM preferences so it’s not that.

Seems to me what maybe an idea for the next patch (if it can be coded) is to have trigger points for resources that when reached automatically start feeding the surplus commodity into the Trade system, or, as I’ve suggested elsewhere that Trade ‘Treaties’ could be added to the Diplo function so surplus stock could be sold off, along with other trading rights etc.

Just a thought.

In prior turns I had the slider set differently, didn't let it one turn to ''wait'' still, It didn't show up and horses were tied for 3/4 place with wool... So should still have shown up.

In our new 1792 Denmark game, Spain shows with horses ready to trade in one province (Granada).

As for spices, I am sure the problem is that each country with colonies collects spices from them. As there is no way to trade spices directly, they simply pile up. I think the only way to trade spices in this case is to trade locally produced (ie. on map) spices and use the ones from the colony for domestic consumption.

Perhaps a colony "province" could be added for trading only, allowing a country to trade spices from her colonies directly. Don't know if that would be too difficult to do or not.

Can add to this. In Denmark too I am unable to chose horses to trade from Prussian lands.

HiHi

I have suggested this before, but what the Hell I'll do so again.

One way of overcoming this problem and inhance the Game at the same time is to make a Tradeing clause for 'Treaties' in the Diplo actions.

Diplo actions are underused anyhow, except (in the main) for Alliances & Surendering and it would be a good way for folk to trade off Surplus stock that was just being added to the Nations stockpile of that commodity, as I see it a 'Win situation' all round.

PS, Just a thought but if other folk think the above a Good idea please, please add a note on this thread so as the Devs can guage the responce, Cheers.

I like the idea, as I believe I said before. I think its kinda odd that only money can be traded in lump sums through the diplomacy system.

This would by far be the perfect solution!
