Pitch Out

Post by Wrathchild »

What is considered an 'appropriate' count for a Pitch Out (ref. Puresim PbP)?

I would say :

0 - 1
0 - 2
1 - 2

Anytime the pitcher is ahead.

I've seen the count at 1-2 then a base is stolen and the count goes to 2-1 for the at bat result. Haven't quite figured that one out[:)]

Yeah, there are still a lot of quirks in the pitch count when steals and attempted steals are involved. I think it's just a matter of the sequence not being displayed properly. I've seen things like the following:

The 2-2 pitch....
(So and so attempted to steal 2nd on the 0-0 pitch and succeeded.) Ball
The 1-1 pitch....

It seems we should never see that initial 2-2 display as the steal took place before that and when we see the 1-1 follow up it feels like we've been cheated!
