salaries

Post by sooner7 »

Has anyone ever had a players salary jump from 150,000 to over 1 million in one year? I am playing the 1970 season, and i have noticed a few of my players asking for a big raise next year.

I've had some real MLB associations where I've had pitchers go from like 400K to 23Mil

I see that all the time. A player will be making $150k, ask for $22 million when offered an extension, $22 million in free agency and then you can sign him during spring training for $3-4 million. I finally realized there is never a reason to sign a player for $22 million as nobody else can afford him and you can sign them for less in spring!

Thanks.  I just know I can't even come close to affording him.  I may just try and trade him before the year is up.  More rebuilding.

If no other team can afford the trade then you might be able to pick him back up in the off season at a cheaper price.[:)]

Yikes, I wonder how this will work in my finances ON 1946 association? I've managed to sign a few players to 3-5 year contracts, which helps. However, I've noticed this: several players for whom I've traded will refuse to accept 4 or 5-year contracts. They will usually accept a 3-year deal.

Thanks for teaching me a valuable tip, guys: to wait out the FA period and sign a valuable journeyman either during spring training or after the new season starts.
