invading russia?

please illuminate me, are there people who have invaded russia from the beginning of the game? please tell me there relative strengths and weaknesses vis a v japan? i was thinking from the beginning of the game, with an effort to secure the old supplies, and make some crippling strikes on the allies simulatenous, are there threads on this?[&o]

I'm thinking it's definitely doable - but not yet sure of the strategic value overall.  I really like the thought of freeing up 9k AV (Manchuko Garrison) come July 42' ish when I expect the conquest to be complete...
 
but didn't start a game because I didn't want to get bogged down in a game right as AE comes out... whenver that is.

As AcePylut says: it is do-able, esp. in stock... however, the game is really not set up for such a thing, and different problems arise later in the game due to "premature" (i.e. - earlier than historic) Soviet activation.
